Great news! Clint has been endorsed for the U.S. House District 24 Democratic primary by the Daytona Beach News-Journal:
To challenge Feeney: Clint Curtis better of Democratic hopefuls
More in the extended....
Although Clint's strongest issue is fair and honest elections, he's no single-issue candidate, as made clear by these excerpts from the News-Journal's endorsement:
Curtis adamantly opposes domestic spying by the federal government and calls for an end to tapping into e-mails, personal records and conversations of Americans.
He strongly opposes privatization of Social Security. And he says the federal government is on the wrong track by insisting states use standardized tests, such as the FCAT, to measure success in education because, "we are removing our children's ability to think and replacing it with the ability to follow orders." He is highly critical of the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq and calls for a Bosnia-like plan to end the war, withdraw troops and prevent civil war.
...
Some of Curtis' positions may be difficult to sell to Congress, such as creating a national health-care plan using tariffs on imported goods. But all of his stands are well-thought out and imaginative.
As they say, read the whole thing. :-)
Here is Clint's interview with WESH-2, a central Florida traditional media outlet. Ironically this was supposed to be a mini-debate with the other FL-24 Dem candidate, Andy Michaud, but he didn't show up! It's very odd how Michaud's been avoiding public appearances. He's supposed to be at the Daytona Beach Annual Democratic Gathering tonight; I'm very curious to see if he'll put in an appearance. Clint, on the other hand, will most definitely be there.
Clint receives Spine Award from the Backbone Campaign at a fundraiser in Seattle, WA. (See - it's not just about Florida.)
Because of the contentious issue of vote fraud, it's important to be aware of the potential problems with Clint's claims regarding the matter. Luckily, the Orlando Weekly provides that with its detailed, well-balanced article, Is This Man Crazy?
Finally, Clint's blog is a great place to keep up with the campaign.
Regardless of the vote fraud issue, I believe Clint's a better man to represent District 24 citizens than Feeney, if for no other reason than he's not affiliated with convicted felon Jack Abramoff. Clint has good ideas for environmental protection, energy independence, job growth and retention, privacy, and many other issues of importance to central Florida residents.
