Not much into diaries, not sure I have that much to say, but I seem to have hosed whatever it is that allows one to access comments on dkos & am getting pretty frustrated that I see little on the site with regard to Peter Goldmark's run for WA-05 against McMorris. I've submitted the odd comment, but, as I can't access replies or subsequent comments, I have to go this route
!dive!
I admit to knowing relatively little about the race, as I split my time between the Left Coast (Seattle) and the Methow Valley, and you don't get a lot of news at Washington Pass. Be that as it may, I can't imagine anyone being much more of a rubberstamp than McMorris has been in Congress, taking money from Delay, sucking up to the GOP leadership in general, and, as far as I can tell, more or less forgetting where she comes from and who lives there.
Last I read on dkos, Goldmark was leaning close, a mere couple of points back (early August), and it only makes sense: his ads are cogent, his background appears to be commendable, he looks good in a Stetson, and he even sounds good on the air (which is more than I can say for Cantwell, who sounds a bit like Nurse Ratched to my jaded ear). Probably doesn't hurt that he's male in that part of the state, much as one hates to admit it.
But the whole thing is way too far under the radar. I don't know how the whole netroots thing works, admittedly, but doesn't this seat carry as much weight as any other in the greater scheme of things? I dearly love Ned Lamont (well, like him, anyhow --- afterall, I went to school with him) and Darcy Burner looks like hell on wheels in Bellevue, but why isn't Goldmark getting some play? Seems like a couple bucks thrown his way to secure a pretty-much solid Dem WA would be a worthy endeavor. Or am I missing something?
Going out on a limb: given that comments persist in not revealing themselves, could someone please reply to me on the e-mail address at my dkos homepage & tell me what the hell is up (both with Goldmark and with the comment thing...I'm quite computer savvy, but a blogidiot; I can see the comment titles but loading the comments themselves times out, even at my 3meg speed)
