We already know that Ted Stevens has a hold on the Coburn/Obama bill to require the government to post all federal spending online. It looks like that other pork king has also placed a hold -- Robert Byrd (D) of West Virginia.
The rumors have been flying for the last day that Byrd is also a culprit, and his office has been mum on the issue. Over at TPM Muckraker, Paul Kiel and Justin Rood have been hounding Byrd's office to no avail. I have my own queries into my own contact at the Byrd campaign and haven't gotten a response.
All other 99 senators are accounted for. It's pretty clear at this point that the other hold is Byrd. Time for him to fess up and try to explain why he thinks accountability is a bad thing.
Incredible. The two longest-serving senators in the Senate seem to have forgotten that they work for the people, and that it's the people's money they're playing with, not their own.
