When I woke up this morning, I tuned to Air America's new New York affiliate.
Instead of intelligent talk from Mark Riley and then Rachel Maddow, I got clowns...
...one of whom is the infamous Armstrong Williams.
Goodbye Air America... at least on the air.
The website for WWRL, the new station, calls it "New York's Progressive Talk"
How in hell does this include Armstrong Willams?
This is someone who took government money to write stories pimping Education Department programs. This is someone who calls his company "RightSide Productions" but claims on his website that he is "striving to show all sides of the political, economic, and social debate."
This is not someone I turn on Air America to listen to.
Now, I have problems with many of the Air America hosts. Al Franken is neither as funny nor as smart as he thinks. Randi Rhodes is wrong much more often than she admits. And Jerry Springer is, well, Jerry Springer. But their hearts are in the right places.
Including Armstrong Williams with them (even though his is not an Air America show) is an insult to New York's progressive audience.
A while back, we had Mike Malloy taken away from us, replaced by some nonsense called "The Satellite Sisters"--and now he is gone from the network completely. Fired.
Waking up to Armstrong Williams just days later is just about the final straw.
Guess I just have to go back to NPR.
