So, I was listening to local progressive talker Lee Rayburn on The Mic 92.1 this morning, and he said he had gotten an email from a listener. This listener had emailed CostCo, asking them to open a shop in Madison.
It would make perfect sense. Madison is "70 square miles surrounded by reality." Totally liberal town, an island of sanity in the red-stained Midwest. Practically no one I know shops at WalMart. Target, maybe. Shopko, sometimes. Never WalMart. And if a Costco opened up ... well, it would do really, really well here.
So this listener had emailed Costco, saying, please open a store in Madison.
The reply from Costco was very polite and just said that they have no public information on plans to open a shop in Madison, but that the guy who got the email ("Taylor S.") would forward the idea on to the real estate department.
The listener then forwarded the exchange to Lee, who put it out on the air. He also put up a petition on his show's website. (A direct link to the petition is here.) He'll leave it open until the end of the year and then send it on to Costco to show them the customer base they would have in Madison.
So. Wisconsinites! Unite! Get us a Costco! Sign the petition! Tell your friends! Let's get 1,000 signatures today!
