This is my first diary on Daily Kos, so bear with me. And many thanks and props to
Kid Oakland for his support of local blogging.
Dan Seals, the Democrat candidate, is running a vibrant and fierce campaign for the IL-10 seat against incumbent Mark Kirk. This campaign has taken off in a district that is just north of Chicago. Years ago, this was the district that Don Rumsfeld claimed and Abner Mikva proudly represented. And now, the voters of the 10th are working their behinds off to elect a candidate that can truly represent their district.
For starters, Seals is a terrific candidate.
He's smart, grounded in his determination to wage a issues-oriented and truly representative campaign, he is working hard at listening and talking to residents throughout this diverse district, and is clear about the issues that Americans face at this moment. From the Iraq quagmire to lack of an affordable and available health care system to a no-accountabilty Congressional office, the residents have been voicing their concerns and making their intent clear to candidate Dan Seals and he has taken these concerns and made his platform
theirs.
And now, the volunteers of the 10th Congressional District have created their own independent blog Dear Rahm. The volunteers of this campaign have designed websites, hosted and staffed meet the candidate coffees, conducted forums, raised money, produced fliers, recruited other volunteers and done whatever it takes to get our candidate elected.
This race is competitve and it's not our fantasy. From Cook Political Report rating of Leaning Republican (D+4) to Rothenberg Political Report, this race has great potential. And, the volunteers want to make certain that this race is not ignored. This race deserves to be on the DCCC Red to Blue page and our aim is true!
So, calling on all Kossacks and shine the light on Dear Rahm! The netroots has shown its love during the most recent netroots candidate fundraising marathon. Please join us locals in getting this race on the Red to Blue page! Onward!
