When Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld proclaimed that those who criticized the war in Iraq were equal to those who appeased Adolf Hitler in the 1930's, the irony alarm sounded like an air raid signal.
He dare speaks of appeasing to Hitler. Those who dare criticize the war, are 60 percent of Americans who are firmly against it. That makes 60 percent of Americans who are Nazi appeasers.
The image of Neville Chamberlain shaking hands with the devil himself was one of the more startling moments in European history.
Now, what could top that?
December 1983, Rummy in Baghdad, shaking the hand of then Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein, (our ally) who was decked out from head to toe in his favorite facist garb.
How could Rummy forget such a momentous occasion?
Didn't he realize that photo of him warmly greeting Saddam would qualify as the symbol of the hypocrisy that George Bush and his corrupt cronies preach on a daily basis?
However, Rummy's reputation and job are on the line.
So is the entire reputation of the Republican party.
Keeping with tradition, Donald Rumsfeld delivered a cheap shot in the middle of a political debate. Typical of the current Conservative movement. When you know you're defeated, deliver one last shot. One last hail mary, by marginalizing your opponent by playing off the fears and anger of the people.
Adolf Hitler is perfect. The devil who walked the earth is the easiest person to identify with pure evil. He's also an excellent marketing schtick. You place Hitler with your opponent, side by side, some schmuck who doesn't know a Goddamn thing about politics will automatically believe in that strategy.
Ned Lamont=Osama Bin Laden? How can the GOP not win in Novemeber with a brilliant marketing schtick like that.
But the Hitler references from Rummy and George Bush's references to the Cold War are completely stupid and void of an intelligence.
If Rumsfeld wants to talk about appeasement to the enemy, he should look no farther to those occupying the White House.
The information was there. 9/11 was coming, but George Bush and his advisors paid no attention. Of course, it was a appeasement in the Chamberlain tradition, but Al-Qadea was able to strike at their heart of New York City and Washington D.C., without even a whimper of curiosity from our leaders, months prior to the attack.
With the Iraq war exploding in our Television sets and our consciousness, came the breeding ground for more terrorism. And, the body bags are getting fuller each day with dead Iraqis and our brave men and women who serve this country to make honest men out of Donald Rumsfeld and George Bush.
So, Rummy shouldn't even dare use that word "appeasement." Shouldn't be nowhere near the word. Don't think he can spell it, even if you give him the "appease" and "ment."
Neo-Cons and Right-Wing pundits on TV and Radio have stock in World War III. They toss it around, hoping it doesn't happen, but clearly wanted to happen so the potential for an American empire in the Middle East can come to fruition.
I'll give the Neo-Cons and Right-wing pundits their World War III, but this World war has been a failure.
So, okay, let's say were in World War III. Let's compare the two World Wars.
When The United States declared war against Germany, Italy, and Japan, there was a draft, we raised taxes, and mobilized every possible resource to assure a victory over the madman that held Germany and the rest of Europe hostage. Over 60 years later, when Bush invaded Iraq, he sent an undersized army, cut taxes and informed Americans to get on with their daily lives.
Okay Neo-Cons since this is World War III, let me be the first to say that Bush is no Winston Churchill, no FDR. Hell he can't even play a good Cowboy. Only a retarded John Wayne was the role perfect for him.
The war in Iraq has become a harvest for future terrorists. And yet, the real criminal of 9/11, Osama Bin Laden still walks the Earth and George Bush has the arrogance to play off the emotions of millions by spreading a message of misinformed fear.
Militant Islam is the rage, but most of the factions are at war with each other. Can't appease Bin Laden, but you might negotiate with Syria or Iran.
We need intelligence in these debates. Rumsfeld, like the Right-Wing pundits in the talk radio circuit, just dispenses opinions that can easily stir people's emotions.
The only difference is that he, Bush and the rest in the cabal have privatize the facts. And with that ownership comes the ability to twist and turn it to their advantage. Next, is dissent. Without dissent, George Bush and the GOP would go crazy.
With dissent comes the end of the Neo-Con dream and the dismantling of all Bush's corrupt polices.
Dissent created the American Revolution, the end of slavery, and the dismantling of Jim Crow laws. Next comes the un-Constitutonal tendencies of a corrupt administration.
Rummy, Bush and the rest can talk a good talk, but lack the intellictual capabilities to protect the nation.
