Okay, I'm as disgusted, disgruntled, and angered by what is going on with ABC and Dobson as anyone else. If you've called the local affiliates, and you have written your e-mails, and harassed ABC's sponsors, there is still one more thing you can do. It forces Focus on the Family to spend money while you sit in the luxury of your living room and laugh at them (AND YOU GET FREE STUFF).
After the fold, you will discover a way to receive such classics as: 'For Men Only
A Straightforward Guide to the Inner Lives of Women' or perhaps you would prefer to read 'What Wives Wish Their Husbands Knew About Women
by Dr. James Dobson (Paperback)...so sit back get your laptop ready for a trip down freebie lane, all courtesy of Dr. DObson.
Okay, I can't take credit for this, I discovered it a few months ago via a website I visit called Cheap Ass Gamer (if you're a videogamer on the hunt for cheap games, this is the place to go)...you visit Dobson's Focus on the Family website and click the resources button towards the top of the page in the left hand margin and you end up here:
http://www.family.org/...
Along the left hand side there are an array of categories that you can browse and add to you cart...go ahead, pick a category and have at...
The theory behind this part of the site is simple, you put something in your cart, and there is a suggested donation that goes along with the item. It is just that, a suggested donation. If they suggest $80.00, you pay zero. if they suggest $22.00, you pay zero. You get the picture. Most of the stuff on the website is hysterical and frightening (books about marriage, about homosexuality, things that Dobson and his staff are undoubtedly experts on). But there are a few things that might actually be of use...there's a Narnia radio CD set that looks pretty interesting, or maybe their anti-homosexuality books will serve as toilet paper, or fish wrap.
There is a limit to the amount of free items that you can get per day/visit, I'm not exactly sure what it is, but if enough people get enough things, well, you get the picture.
As you proceed through the checkout you will have to give your personal information, and there's a chance Dobson will come to your house and try to kick your ass, but it may end up putting you on their mailing list (which also will cost them money)....Finally at checkout, there will be a box that asks for your contribution, check the box marked "Enter other dollar amount" and put in a nice fat zero, and soon your mailbox will be filled with free, expensive hate propaganda.
EDIT 1
Apparently someone has tried this and was not allowed to do it. I've done it in the past, and didn't have a problem, perhaps they've changed their methods...I would be inclined to try something LESS than $45.00 and see if that works...
