Early ratings for the ABC movie "Path to 9/11" are available. The official ratings for Prime do not come out to later in the week (the ABC movie is considered a special).
It was not the ratings bonanza they were hoping for...but then again it was not a bomb I WISH IT WOULD HAVE BEEN.
Here are some of the numbers I was able to gather --- remember they are preliminary and subject to change since it all depends on official start and end times and other factors.
The Giants-Colts game on NBC was the #1 show for the night with the Manning brothers duking it out. NBC averaged around 20,100,000 viewers and a 7.9 rating in the sales-friendly Adult 18-49 demographic group. The game ended at 1130 PM.
ABC averaged around 11,700,000 viewers for the movie, which ran to 1045 PM. The sales-desired Adult 18-49 demographic was a 4.0.
FOX's "The Simpsons" had the pleasure of outrating ABC in Adults 18-49 with a 5.3 rating. But "The Simpsons" averaged 11,500,000 viewers.
High viewership does NOT necessarily corrolate to a good Adult 18-49 rating ---- lots of sales-unfriendly Adults 50 and over are counted in total -- but that is another conversation.
CBS's 9/11 special aired 830 PM to 1030 PM. It averaged around 10,600,000 veiwers. The CBS special will not get official ratings since there were no commercials and Nielsen does not official giving ratings to network shows without any commercials.
Ratings in individual cities will vary wildly. In all likelihood the football game's ratings in New York and Indianapolis were much higher than ABC's.
