I'm in a little bit of a difficult situation, one that lots of college students can sympathize with. At home, I was fairly active politically. I'd go to rallies, sign petitions, contribute a little, write letters to the editor even. But now, I'm 1500 miles away from home. See, I'm originally from Austin, TX. Much as I loved Austin, I figured something a little different would be a good experience. Now I attend a private college in Massachusetts. But it leaves me in a bit of a quandary.
If you know anything about the gubernatorial race in Texas, you know it's a little bit crazy this cycle. I support Chris Bell, of course, although his primary opponent was better. Still, he's a better alternative than Kinky or Perry. In case y'all didn't hear, not only did Kinky call the Katrina victim disparaging names, but he's also promised some quite radical things.

As reported by the Quorum Report, Kinky has pledged on Dan Patrick's right-wing talk radio program that he would not veto Patrick's "trigger bill" to make abortion illegal in Texas immediately upon any reversal of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court.
I think everyone can agree that he's not a good candidate. But he is the one who's getting a large percentage of the democratic vote, mainly because he's perceived as being "a cool guy."
Anyway, the main point I'm trying to get to, is that I want to help Chris Bell regain some of those democratic votes from Kinky, and win the election. But, 1500 miles and all. Does anyone have any ideas how a collge student (i.e. broke person) help a campaign from a distance? I know several people in the same situation, and we can't be the only ones. So, help the college students participate!
