Some people call Tom Reynolds "extreme." I can't disagree but "extreme" doesn't quite capture this video gem from his 1996 congressional race.
"Freakin' weird" is more like it.
This puts to rest any questions about why incumbent State Senator Tom Reynolds
runs away from anything resembling a camera.
And this is just one in a string of
freakin' weird-isms from the West Allis Republican.
In 2003, he sent out a Christmas card depicting himself as Joseph, the earthly father of the Nazarene.
Keeping with the Christmas theme, as the holiday approached in 2004, the senator fired his entire staff for alleged disloyalty.
In fairness, Reynolds has always been what might be described as an "interesting" boss.
He made the news for participating in an event dubbed the "International Conference on Homo-Fascism" in 2003....
Even folks in his own party
regret electing him.
"They didn't know who they were electing," declared one top Republican operative.
"We don't know what to do with the guy," he complained. "There are people who are really concerned with that seat - it's ripe for the picking."
They're right.
Jim Sullivan can beat Tom Reynolds and flip the State Senate to progressive control in the process.
