In an article yesterday in the Sunday New York Times, it was reported that the Federal and New York State governments would be anchor tenants for the Freedom Tower currently being built at Ground Zero.

My question to my fellow Kossacks is: Would you be willing to accept a job if it required you to work in the new Freedom Tower?
I carry very mixed emotions about the rebuilding at the site of the World Trade Center, where nearly 3,000 Americans were killed, and which were the target of two separate terror attacks in 1993 and 2001. Like many Americans, I immediately felt we must rebuild the Towers, if only as a show of strength and resolve that America would not allow Al-Qaeda and terrorism to win.
But regardless of your belief as to whether the current Administration can protect us from another event like 9/11, why would we put so many innocent, hard-working civil servants deliberately in what will certainly be the #1 terrorist target in the world when it re-opens? Is it right for us to ask a young, single mother, struggling to support her family on the salary of a state worker, to have to decide if she will make her self a target each day in hopes of feeding her family? So far, private employers have prudently stayed away, understanding the risks such a move would create.
I know there are other high-visibility targets where others go each day, from the US Capitol, the Pentagon, the NYSE, the Sears Tower, etc. They too much such a choice each day. But how many more American lives will we risk just so we say "Fuck you" to Osama Bin Laden? Will Rudy Guiliani, George Pataki, or Mayor Bloomberg move their offices to the 80th floor of the new tower?
What do Kossacks think?
