Not so long ago I posted a diary about John Kerry and his two-years-too-late ass kicking statement. I compared his tardy response to Bill Clinton and his team's Path to 9/11 rebuttals, pointing out the obvious, that no one from that administration sat around and waited to painted with a right-wing brush, while Kerry was smeared beyond recognition in 2004 due to his tepid response. Some folks didn't agree, which is fine, they like yesterday's candidate and they're sticking to it, but by now everyone has seen Clinton's latest response to the right-wing machine, and let me just say, well, yeah, exactly what I said before.
Clinton is the model for all Democrats to follow, and unfortunately, none of them seem to get this. Even Al Gore, who I know would have made a much better President than either Kerry or Bush, failed to recognize this back in 2000. After 8 years of being proud to be a Democrat I have found myself ashamed of the spineless, toothless gang that has been run over by the Bush Administration. Proud to be an Independent, but not happy about it.
I'll compare this to being a Cubs fan: as much as I love the team I am tired of losing and will not show up to the games and give the money until they get some better players. I'm sick of it, and have been for quite some time. I stood by Kerry through his Swift Boating and got nothing in return, except a two-years-too-late promise to kick ass. It's just not good enough. And I think the Democrats who blindly support this losing attitude deserve what they get: losers.
This does not mean I won't vote. I have voted in every election and will continue to, and certainly not for any Republican candidates, as I do not believe in what they stand for. But something has to happen here. The ass-kicking has been pretty one-sided since Clinton left office and the fact that he's still out there doing that dirty work says more about today's Democrats than it does about him. Any dummy can see that. Blind loyalty to meek liberals will get you more of the same.
