Bush incompetent?
Gasoline prices going down?
A Bush's maneuver to interfere with the election?
Over 53 per cent of Americans do not believe it?
Well... they should because it is not really Bush as president who is doing it, but Bush as the present leader of the Conservative movement and as such he is just advancing their agenda. Not a sign of incompetence in pursuing this plan
This is what progressives need to fight and discredit. We need to forget that Bush is incompetent, or dumb. HE IS NOT!!.
The 800 pound gorilla in our midst is the Conservative Movement that so far has had more successes than failures in trying to implement their plan of a permanent Conservative majority in our country.
Bush incompetent? it is an intriguing idea. Consider the following (incomplete) list of major initiatives the Bush administration, with a loyal conservative Congress, has accomplished:
[1-Consolidating power within the executive branch to an unprecedented degree
2-Two major wars, one started with questionable intelligence and in a manner with which the military disagreed
3-Placing on the Supreme Court two far-right justices, and stacking the lower federal courts with many more
4-Cutting taxes during wartime, an unprecedented event.
5-Passing a number of controversial bills such as the PATRIOT Act, the No Child Left Behind Act, the Medicare Drug bill, the Bankruptcy bill and a number of massive tax cuts
6-Rolling back and refusing to enforce a host of basic regulatory protections
7-Appointing industry officials to oversee regulatory agencies
8-Establishing a greater role for religion through faith-based initiatives
9-Passing Orwellian-titled legislation assaulting the environment -- "The Healthy Forests Act" and the "Clear Skies Initiative" -- to deforest public lands, and put more pollution in our skies
10-Winning re-election and solidifying his party's grip on Congress
11-Katrina a disaster for Republicans and President Bush? Not if you think about it as a Conservative victory because it enhanced the popular perception that the federal government is inept and unable to help ordinary citizens, though Bush's own popularity may have suffered.
These aren't signs of incompetence. As should be painfully clear, the Bush administration has been overwhelmingly competent in advancing its conservative vision. It has been all too effective in achieving its goals by determinedly pursuing a conservative philosophy.
It's not Bush the man who has been so harmful, it's the conservative agenda.] G Lakoff.
Conservatives and their agenda should be discredited by showing, explaining, making it plain and obvious to Americans how their policies are negatively impacting our country, our institutions, our ability to provide an education for our families, in short how the conservative agenda is damaging our country and our ability to live in it in the manner our institutions and our constitution intended.
If conservatives are successful, their agenda, when fully implemented, will be a disaster for the middle class, and for all Americans working for a wage to make a living. Eventually we will swell up the ranks of the poor to fend for ourselves without any protections or rights. In the end there will be the super rich, the oligarchies, the industrial conglomerates and the rest of us, the poor or proletarians as the slave labor. A perverse type of socialism, in the midst of one of the most antisocialist countries in the world.
The war on Conservative Terror is the War and the Terrorism that we should be discrediting and Americans be scared stiff and terror struck.
The conservative philosophy we have been suffering and gradually having imposed on us, for the past twelve years, can be more aptly described as Conservative Terror because in the end its aim, not unlike that of the islamic terrorists, is to victimize, tyrannize, torment, intimidate, threaten and scare americans, not to mention gradually destroy our standard of living, our rights, our laws and our way of life.
This is the fight of the century for progressives. We refuse this struggle at our own peril.
