Can you tell we are in a war? Everyday I pick up my local
newspaper in Columbus, OH and the war in Iraq is never mentioned on the front page. Well, today Iraq was on the front page but it was regarding an
audio tape made by Abu Hamza al-Mulhajir. No mention of Iraqi deaths, soldiers deaths, IED's etc. I had to search in the New Times to find out that
Iraq had lost its 4th Journalist in September.
I was drawn to the Daily Kos because of Kos's excellent coverage of the Iraq War. Not to undermine this wonderful website but I would greatly appreciate it if the Iraq War combat coverage was back on the front page of the Daily Kos. I hope we all work on getting Iraq back on the front page of our local newspapers as well by contacting them and reminding them that a war is going on.
I just started reading Frank Rich's
The Greatest Story Ever Sold.
..... a research project conducted by Sean Aday of George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs would examine six hundred hours of television coverage between March 20 and the fall of Baghdad, on April 9, and find that in 1,710 stories only 13.5 percent included shots of dead or wounded civilians or soldiers, whether Iraqi or American.
.
Listen folks, we are not getting any coverage of Iraq and/or Afghanistan let alone shots of dead or wounded civilians and soldiers.
Please contact your local newspaper and T.V. Station. The Iraq/Afghanistan War should be on the front page of every newspaper every day!!!
Please don't forget to buy a copy of Frank Rich's book. Trust me, it is much better than my diary.
