Surprise! Surprise!  al-Qaida has released a tape and this one has english subtitles. I just can't get over what can be accomplished from a cave. It is truly amamzing.

CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri called President Bush a failure and a liar in the war on terror in a video statement released Friday, and he compared        Pope Benedict XVI to the 11th century pontiff who launched the First Crusade.

So he thinks we were lied into war

"Can't you be honest at least once in your life, and admit that you are a deceitful liar who intentionally deceived your nation when you drove them to war in        Iraq?" Osama bin Laden's deputy said,

Torture, he thinks the US has been torturing people ....

Al-Zawahri accused the United States and its agents of torturing Muslim prisoners seized across the Middle East.

Your agents in the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan and  Afghanistan have captured thousands of the youth and soldiers of Islam whom you made to taste at your hands and the hands of your agents various types of punishment and torture," al-Zawahri said.

and he is spinning it

Ben Venzke, head of the Virginia-based IntelCenter, which monitors terrorism communications, said al-Zawahri essentially gave al-Qaida's spin on the arrests and detentions of its leaders.

Excuse me but who the Fuck is this guy and what is this company? I thought the job of monitoring terrorist communications was the job of one of the 16 spy agencies we have? Is this one of those agencies or a sub contractor?

"They are countering arguments that individuals have been able to provide useful information," he said. "And they are continuing to reinforce their intentions for revenge."

This sounds so familiar, where have I heard this before?

The nearly 18-minute statement, titled "Bush, the Pope, Darfur and the Crusades," was produced by al-Qaida's media arm, as-Sahab, and made available by the IntelCenter. An initial segment shows al-Zawahri in an office-type setting, while in the second part he is in front of a brown backdrop. The first segment also has English subtitles.

Amazing, al-Qaida has a media arm, and now they are releasing foreign language videos.

After conducting a technical analysis of the videotape, the CIA concluded "with confidence" that the speaker is in fact Ayman al-Zawahri, said a CIA spokesperson who spoke on condition of anonymity

And here is the most amazing news of all

The IntelCenter said Friday's video was the 48th released by the al-Qaida Web site this year, three times more than last year's number -- which had been the highest. It said al-Zawahri has appeared in 14 of the 2006 videos.

So how was that war on terror going again? Media Arms , Production Studios, Spin, it sounds like ...... nah couldn't be.

So who will be the first talking head to ask a Dem if they agree with al-Qaida's #2? When will the ads start airing with the english subtitiles? Doesn't this guy kknow the REpubllican Party is imploding tonight, did he really have to take the focus off of all the sex scandel stuff?  al-Qaida really hates Democrats!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

on Yahoo, whereas "Rep. Mark Foley Resigns Seat" is.  Foley is's top headline, while Al-Zawahri is half way down their list.

The American consciousness is awakened by matters of sex before it is awakened by anything else.  Nothing else that happens in the world over the next few days will be quite as interesting as the Republican Congressman who masturbates to teenagers in instant messages.

Republicans would normally hope for a little bounce from a nice new Terrah Tape, but they'll be sorely disappointed this time.  Terrah Tapes just don't do it for people any more, not when there's a Republican Congressman seducing teenage boys.

seen 14 let alone 48 videos. Amazing that they let the one calling Bush a lier out the door of the CIA/subcontractor/post production analysis room.

I remember the last audio bin Laden tape - Cheney told Al Jazeera he didn't know if it was real or not, but that he would let the CIA decide for themselves (big of him don't you think?). Interesting that this one came from an American based company, where the previous biggies have come from Al Jazeera. Maybe it was decided that was time to cut out the middle men? Or maybe Rummie's hatred of Al Jazeera is holding sway with the folks who make these films? Maybe Virginia is just a much easier place to make these pix - is there a refrigerator with a body in it anywhere nearby??? Enquiring minds want to know.

When I saw the title on al-Zawahri's 18 minute statement - "Bush, the Pope, Darfur and the Crusades", and then I saw the quoted sentence:

"Can't you be honest at least once in your life, and admit that you are a deceitful liar who intentionally deceived your nation when you drove them to war in Iraq?" Osama bin Laden's deputy said,"

I said to myself, "Self, this looks like a diary post on Dailykos."

Where exactly is the "spin"? What is not true about that question?

redstate is already making this out to be democratic party material.

"sounds like something the democrats would say"

    to that, I say:  "And?"

al-Zawahri is right.  Bush is a liar.  But Bush is also a Christofascist terrorist.  Shock-and-Awe, anyone? I do believe that is the definition of terror.  Shock, and Awe.  So what does that make you, Mr. Repug?

al-Zawahri saying Bush is a liar is like him saying the Earth is round.  Even the loathsome can speak the obvious, factual truth.  I mean, the GOP still acts as if it's an opinion that Bush is a liar.  Sorry, but the Earth is round just like Bush is a liar.  It's time to take note of that fact.

      •  politically, (0+ / 0-)

all you do is not say a thing.  just like all the other videos that the GOP labels as "democratic propaganda."

but of course, someone is going to ask a democrat on the TeeVee "is al-Zawahiri right?"

you either say some stupid shit like "i haven't seen the video" or admit that yes, even The Terrarists™ can speak truth.  which, of course, is political suicide.  So only option is to play dumb.

I mean, if the average American can't get past that concept, then we really don't deserve what has been given to us.  The truth isn't soundbyte-friendly, I'm afraid.  Which is why we are stuck in that shithole known as Iraq to begin with.

within one historical week. Look at this week.
Bush went to the UN - called the Dems  er the ususal
Chavez goes and calls Bush the Devil
There was an apparently bloodless coup in Thailand
Wednesday House passes the torture pardon bill
Thursday the Senate passes the torture pardon and Habeas Corpus relief bill
Abramoff/Rove emails show pay for play out of the Whitehouse itself.
Friday House tries to pass a FISA pardon bill - but can not. House passes a more war funding bill, but don't build anything that looks permanent (no worries there, our subcontractors only build tear downs)
There is a coup attempt in Baghdad resulting in a lock down during Ramadan.
A House member does untoward things with his member, and 7-9 House members cover it up.
Al Qaeda provides subtitles (should their screed not be comprehensible to whomever is translating... oh. wait. we fired the translators for being gay, so now al Qaeda is appeasing the Republicans for the lack of translators) for the lastest Republican propaganda released by a company in Virginia. All reports of a refrigerator with a 6.5' tall body in it nearby the post production facilities are probably specious. Virginia has the best air conditioning.
