Take My Free Speech...Please!!

No, I don't mean take
away my free speech, I mean
use my speech, for free...please. Any Democrat, or Democratic candidate may use this speach...please use it.
Last night I sat down and tried to figure out
1.) How we can respond to the "War On Terror" frame that seems to be excusing Bush and his party for every malodious thing they do.
2.) How we can link Bush to the Republican party in such a way that every thing he does wrong sticks, not just to him, but to his party (this is going to be important in November, and again in 2008 so we need to start now).
3.) How we can begin to fit our stance on NSA Spying, the War (in Iraq/on terror), and eventually on Alito and the Environmental movement Together in a "worldview" that makes sense to a majority of American voters.
The first fruits of this thinking was the following essay that is written in the form of a speech...Which my dream candidate would have already given, but which is not too late to deliver:
Bush's Republican leadership claims to be waging a war on terror. At every turn, Bush and his Republicans accuse the Democratic party. They accuse us of not supporting domestic spying. They accuse us of not supporting the war when we call for peace. And we must stand up to these accusations. I tell you today, that the Democrats believe in the war against terror, and the Democrats will
lead the war against terror. We will lead because we believe in protecting America.
Now, Bush and his Republican supporters would have you believe that their prying, unconstitutional wiretaps on Americans have made us safe. Bush's Republicans want you to believe that the use of chemical warfare and torture in Iraq has made us safe. If we ever believed this, it was because we wanted to feel secure. But Bush and the Republicans are trying to sell us a sense of temporary security, and the cost is our sense of what is True, what is Right, and what is Good.
America cannot afford that price! In the war against terror, America cannot afford that price! In any time of war, America cannt, must not, will not compromise its values for a sense of security that is temporary and false.
Bush and his Republican leadership across the board have failed: failed to protect us prior to September Eleventh. Because they failed, they now want us to choose. They say we must choose between Life and Liberty: between our national security and our country's Constitution. Bush and the Republicans say this because they are to weak or just unwilling to protect All of America. They cannot protect us from the real dangers of Terrorism.
This Administration has yet to bring Bin Laden to justice, and for all we know, he may have already died-- quietly in his bed. But if he is alive, you can bet he knows he can't kill all of us. And you can bet he knows he doesn't have to. He doesn't have to because the Republicans under Bush are already meeting every one of the terrorists' terms.
Every time we ignore our Constitution; every time we spit in the faces of our Founding Fathers; every time we compromise the value of Liberty or Humanity, or allow this to happen, we meet the terms of terrorists! Repeatedly, this Republican administration has done just this because they have refused to protect our Life and Liberty.
If we must choose, then we have already lost our Liberty, and leadership that is too weak or unwilling to protect our Liberty can never be trusted to protect our Life for very long. If we must sacrife our Liberty for Life, or our Humanity for Victory, we are lost. We are lost as a nation. If we must sell what is True, what is Right, and what is Good to feel safe, the war has been lost, no matter what battles we win.
The true threat of terrorism is not merely the loss of life, but the cowardly compromise of our values: Life, Liberty, and Humanity. The Freedom of all Americans has cost many Americans their lives, but the lives of many Americans must never cost all Americans their Freedom!
And I believe it doesn't have to. As a Democrat, I want to protect all of America: Life and Liberty. As a Democrat, I believe we can do it. I believe America is strong enough to keep its responsiblility to Protect us. We are strong enough, and We are willing. The Republicans under Bush want us to compromise our Protection, But we must not! We must not, and we need not. Democrats believe we can be safe and uphold what is True. We believe America can be Strong and stand by what is Right. America believes we can be Proud to do what is Good.
