An Uphill Battle That Should Be Fought!

Thu Jan 12, 2006 at 07:50:30 PM PDT

The Democrats in the Senate should filibuster Alito. If you only fight the battles you think you can win, then you will fight no battles. In war you sometimes fight a losing battle in order to set yourself into a better position for the next battle. Even if we filibuster Alito & "lose" we will still gain, by actually standing for something.

Question: How many Democratic Presidents in the last 50 years have appointed a Chief Justice?
Answer: None!

--Earl Warren appointed by Eisenhower
--Warren Burger appointed by Nixon
--William Rehnquist appointed by Reagan
--John Roberts appointed by Bush

Question: How many Supreme Court justices have been appointed by a Democratic president over the last 35 years?
Answer: Two! (Both by President Clinton)

Every two-term president in the last century, except President Clinton, has appointed at least three Supreme Court justices, while President Carter has been the only president in history to serve a full term without appointing a single justice.

Heavy Sigh.

Even when the Democrats actually occupy the Oval Office, we still can't catch a break!

The MSM & the Republican Party are always carrying on about the so-called "liberal" Supreme Court. It's a LIE! And it's a lie that needs to be addressed during a filibuster.

Question: Which party once led a 5 day filibuster over the appointment of a Chief Justice?
Answer: The Republicans

When Chief Justice Earl Warren announced his retirement in June 1968,President Johnson nominated Abe Fortas (who was already a sitting justice on SCOTUS) to replace Warren as Chief Justice.

The nomination resulted in a five day filibuster led by Republicans and conservative southern Democrats...a.k.a. DINO's.

Fortas withdrew his name from consideration & Republican Nixon appointed Warren Burger.

SO! What does this little history lesson show?

  1. Liberal SCOTUS is a lie that needs to be loudly   challenged.

  2. The Chief Justice has been appointed by a Republican president for over 50 years.

  3. For over 3 and a half decades only 2 justices have been appointed by a Democratic President.

  4. Bush & the Republicans control the White House, the Senate, the House, AND SCOTUS...nominating Alito is Bush's way of writing that control in cement.
