"Nancy, stop funding the war."

Sun Jan 15, 2006 at 02:32:57 PM PDT

Anti-war activists heckle Pelosi

"Her opposition to the Iraq war may have earned her a reputation as a radical lefty in Washington.

But when Democratic minority leader Nancy Pelosi came home to hold a town hall meeting in San Francisco on Saturday, she was greeted like a pro-establishment warmonger."

All Dem talk and no action is a common theme of many DKos diaries today.

One can say one is against the war to garner future votes and keep on funding the atrocities.

Whatta way to run a party!?

"Speak to Bush's impeachment," members of the crowd chanted at one point."

Can you impeach a standing Democrat?

  •  Impeach - (none / 1)

I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.

      •  Respectfully, there's not enough content (none / 0)

to make a diary (FAQ).  You're entitled to open up a discussion on this, but there's not enough meat here to warrant pushing other diaries down the "recent" list.  I was recommending deleting this diary and posting a comment here instead.

        •  So you have actually read the yaddayadda, simplify (none / 0)

So, simplify it for me, okay simplify, respectfully, like.

I can then consider editing the diary to your desired philadelphia lawyering standards.

  •  Why would you want to (none / 1)

    impeach her?

For voting for funding for the president's war?

  •  Interesting idea... (4.00 / 2)

Get Pelosi to rally all the Dem members of congress to vote against any funds for Bush's war. Then, when the repubs pass the funding anyways, they can spend the next several months talking about how the Dems have abandoned the troops in the field. Especially now that the Pentagon has agreed to send over additional body armor.

Yep, she could proudly lead the Dems right into complete political oblivion.

    Then what?

BTW, is that a link to a post you made at Livejournal?

    •  Needless alarmism (none / 0)

In this day and age spin is as important as fact and you just spun out.

An effective TV, paper, ad campaign would establish the reason Dems are pulling war funding support.

Dems win huge in '06 and '08 and the warwhores are hung out to dry.

    •  Better yet cnnwon can recruit a canidate (none / 0)

to run against Pelosi on the issues he thinks will resonate with voters. They are so clear and obvious that this canidate will sweep Nancy aside in tidal wave of voters crying out for her removal for voting to fund the war. An effecitve ad campaign will make it all clear.

That way the unfortunate fact that you can't impeach Nancy will be overcome. You can have an Election and vote her out of office.

  •  I diaried this earlier, but recommend it here (none / 1)

I did not make it the main point of my diary, but noted it in passing. Noted it to show that the political atmosphere may be shifting to allow the long-needed new political party to come into being.

The natives are getting restless. We need leaders with political courage. Leaders who are not afraid of losing their contact with power and riches. Leaders who will help us build a society based on truth and justice. It is not to late, to quote one long gone, to seek a newer world.

  •  Uh... (none / 0)

I don't think you can impeach a member of Congress.

    Barack Obama for President '08

by v2aggie2 on Sun Jan 15, 2006 at 05:09:37 PM PDT

  •  No, you (none / 0)

Can't impeach a member of Congress, and while I understand cc's frustration, I don't think voting to support our people is "impeachable" even if you could impeach a member of Congress.

Disagree with her, vote her out of office, but she hasn't done anything illegal here.

And "supporting our troops" means you adequately fund them, even if they are participating in a war you are against.  It's not our soldiers fault that they are there, it's our President's. They are suffering enough as it is.  What should be the law of the land is that you don't send our kids to a foreign country to fight an illegal war.

    •  Ah, go impeach yourself (none / 0)

Legal does not not mean moral.

If war funding were cut off, what would no longer be supported would be the military-industrial complex nightmare.

I hate to say it, but people like yourself are so fucked up, that prognosis for recovery is grim.

I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.

  •  Pelosi (none / 1)

is generally recognized as a pretty poor leader. She cannot keep her party together. She cannot develop a recognizable strategy that the average person can understand. The way to win is to start talking about and pushing issues that your base needs in order to get out to the polls. Pelosi needs to get out in front on minimum wage; message: vote for us and your wages will catch up. Simple, easy. Do it and don't stop doing it. Pelosi needs to get out in front on corruption. Message: Vote for us and we'll throw crooked politicians in jail and their lobbyist friends. Simple. We're gonna clean house like never before. Lobbyists, pack your stinkin' bags. If Pelosi can't do the job, and let's face it she hasn't been, then get some tough SOB to do it for her.
