Paul Hackett LIVE @ 9 am ET - Web Stream

Wed Jan 25, 2006 at 05:39:04 AM PDT

For those who have yet to hear Paul Hackett speak, this is your chance. He will be on Cleveland's local NPR station WCPN 90.3 this morning at 9 am ET. You can listen to a live feed of the broadcast here:

BTW, I don't work for Hackett or for anybody. I just happen to really admire him and his politics and I sure hope he prevails against Sherrod Brown (whom I admire as well, just not as much as I do Hackett) in May and goes on to beat the hell out of DeWine in November. If you like Hackett, consider recommending this diary so others can see it before it falls off.

Thanks, Cleveland Dem... up to now I've only seen snippets of Paul on the MSM. I'm so glad it's not video... dial up sucks.

  •  "Bizarrely Forthright?" (none / 0)

The moderator introduced Paul Hackett with this dubious handle. Only in this political environment would forthrightness be called "bizarre."  Our Founding Fathers would love Paul Hackett.  Speaking your mind is the quintessential American communication skill.  Speak on, Mr. Hackett.

  •  Quick summary (none / 0)

Hackett is Military.  This will count a lot with some people who understand that there is a teeny tiny difference betweeen the Commander-in-Chief and a commander in the field.

Most callers were good.  One was stumbing and rambling a bit.  If you know you aren't good when put on the spot or have problems coming to the point, write it down or make a very short list of bullet points.  I'm very prone to wandering all over a topic without getting to the point.  And terrified of public speaking!

Hello to Jay in Columbus! I suspect Jay is a Kossack.

Hackett was solid on most topics.  He is weak on the economy - but then again, I think all politicians are desperately trying to find something concrete to say about it.  He is reaching out to moderates and independents - and though disgruntled Republicans and conservatives weren't mentioned explicitly, they were implied.  That's a very solid move.

No talk about immigration.  Some talk about national service which Hackett supported but didn't address paying for it.  Hackett said something very controversial about education - we should pay teachers more!

Overall, Hackett came across as a centrist and didn't declare alliances with any particular group.

Proud member of the Cult of Issues and Substance!
