Primaries over. What must be done right now to help ridding ourselves of you-know-who?
Ok, probably number one is money. Give as much as you can, and more importantly, get other people to donate. If it's your birthday soon, ask for the putative gifter to send money Kerry's way.
If they (or you) don't want to send money to Kerry, how about to Moveon.org, or the DNC?
If you feel comfortable enough about it, do send emails to your independent & lefty-leaning friends to suggest contributions. Same thing for potentially receptive neighbors, or coworkers. It might be awkward, but it's worth it.
Money is huge. W's campaign starts today with a $5 million buy. They've got $170 million in the bag. We have a long way to go.
After money, I'm not so sure. Should we start writing letters to independents (a la Dean's campaign)? Buzzflash sells these interesting postcards to send to lukewarm republicans, or independents (or to firm up dem voters). They also have these ones.
Should we start organizing neighborhood GOTV efforts? Identifying Dem voters that would be willing to vote absentee early (older voters with mobility issues, handicapped voters, voters who might be out of the country)?
Or is it too early to do anything at this point (except raise money)?
By the way, don't forget Congress either. We can give to individual candidates, or en masse to the Senate ones, or the House ones.
So there you go. Share your ideas and priorities. And let's move.
