Newt tells us how it is

Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 07:17:34 AM PDT

NOW I understand the reason congress in corrupt! Newt explained it on NPR this morning!!!

http://www.npr.org/...

Here I was thinking that it was because rich corporate fat cats were buying off politicians so they could cut regulation and get away with poisioning communities with pollution, allowing them to take unsafe drugs cause drug companies had undercut the FDA's regulatory ability, and get away with mine safety violations. Then thanks to "frivolous lawsuit" legislation the public is even powerless to take "personal responsibility" and sue them to call them to account for their actions.

Boy was I wrong!

Newt says it is corrupt because Gov't is still too big. NOW THAT makes sense!!

We should do away with mine safety regulations and each miner should take personal responsibility  for monitoring safety conditions in the mines, and if they don't like it quit.

If there is a mine disaster and they are trapped, just like the people on FOX keep saying about the Katrina folks trapped in New Orleans the miners should be prepared and not expect the government to take care of them.

We should do away with the FDA and everybody should take responsibility for the drugs they take. Watch your neighbor take them and if he dies don't take them.

Oh and for sure do away with the EPA that way what we don't see won't hurt us right???

the pejorative use of the tag "Redneck" in this diary.  I am from Mississippi, and know the history of the Rednecks.  They were a political movement of agrarians in the late 19th - early 20th centuries who were basically populist in nature - wanting state regualted crop insurance, etc.  (they were also largely racists, but it was Mississippi in the late 19th - early 20th).

  •  Newt is a discredited fool (none / 0)

every TV show that has him on should be pointed at while laughing.. unless they have him on to tell him and audience that he is 60 percent full of crap.

Morning Edition let me down once again by giving this lecherous bastard have an open forum to extol the virtues of the republican party.  I kept waiting for Jim Wright's Democratic rebuttal, but of course, it never came.

"Republicans are the party of the people," he said, unchallenged.

  •  If Gingrich's ignorance.... (none / 0)

....wasn't so incredibly evil and harmful, I'd be laughing hysterically.

I miss his rebuttals from the Reagan era. His ethical lapse was nothing compared to what the GOP does right out in the open anymore.
