Every day until the election I'm making a contribution to a new candidate, announcing it here on Daily Kos, and encouraging you to join me.  If one person matches my contribution on my ActBlue page, I'll double my contribution; if ten people match it, I'll triple.  Yesterday maryfromabluestate, Christopher Walker, and llbear (who followed up with an exclusive liveblog from outside Denny Hastert's HQ) all matched or exceeded my contribution to John Laesch, so today I'm sending John $20 more.

Here's Zack's website.

Here's my ActBlue page.

Please follow me below the fold for details on Zack Space and my donation history.

Today I'm shifting my attention away from Illinois and back to Ohio.  A while back, fabian suggested Zack Space, who is running for Bob Ney's old seat.  Zack meets all my criteria - he looks like a solid candidate who will honestly serve his district, it's a winnable race (he seems to be in the lead), but not a lock, and it's one where my money can make a difference.  Who will match my $20?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I tip my hat to you and gave you a tip as well.

But the $50 I am spending on the Vic Wulsin fundraiser tomorrow and the $35 I am giving to Marc Dann pretty much wipes out my food budget between now and November. I'm mostly giving my time.

I know that I'm lucky to be able to afford this, and I really don't want to make anyone feel bad who can't.  I've said a number of times here: do everything you can and feel good about that; it's what I'm doing - and it sounds like it's what you're doing, too.  So please feel good about it.  Don't starve, and don't feel guilty about eating.

The one thing I'd add is - let other people know what you're doing (if you're not already).  We want giving (money, time, or even just attention - and certainly votes) to become the norm.  It's the norm when everybody is aware of it, and people become aware of it when you share.  Not just here on Kos, but out in the real world, too, where most of our fellow citizens seem oblivious and apathetic.  Let 'em know.

    •  I love reading your diary everyday. (4+ / 0-)

I think you are just wonderful for doing this.  This has been one of the most successful endeavors I have seen here, by one person.  Keep it up!

for your ongoing attention and support.  As you know, I'm happy to be doing what I can.  And I am but one of many, and that makes me even happier.  Hooray for us all.

This is another one where GOP corruption can lead directly to a pickup of a seat.

and thanks for honoring Dan Seals (IL-10) with a diary a few days ago.  You generated 12 donations to Seals!

There is a tie to Foley.  Seal's opponent is the 4th highest Republican in the House.  The entire GOP house leadership should resign or be thrown out in November!

I was at the same parade as Focused, but I don't know who she is.

I appreciate the contribution, and the support for Seals.

I don't think we should be winning these races because of Republican corruption - for one thing, I think there are more important issues (the Iraq occupation for one) and for another, when we take power again there will ultimately be more Democratic corruption thanks to Acton's equation, and it feeds the "they're all the same" meme that I find so inaccurate and harmful - but if corruption and scandal is what wins it, well, that's better than not winning, you know?

I know Focused's identity, thanks to ActBlue, but I don't think it's mine to share.  If she wants to identify herself, that's entirely up to her.

      Thanks again.

    •  Hi LawyerDan . . . (0+ / 0-)

Madame Defarge knows my identity and so does Maryfromabluestate.  You're welcomed to ask them, they have my permission to divulge, but ask them to tell me who you are too.  Hey, I feel a tiny bit like a super hero with an alter ego identity!

  •  Once again, thanks! (0+ / 0-)

Thanks for the devotion and the model to follow.

Can we talk about taking back the senate? We need six states.

$40.00 more for Zack Space, and $50.00 for Jack Carter. I had to make up because I couldn't contribute to the John Laesch campaign. I maxed out on my legal contribution to that campaign right after Yearly Kos.

    •  Thank you again, Aeolus (0+ / 0-)

I appreciate both contributions, and I think your reason for not contributing to Laesch is great.  Thanks!

I almost wish you would pick a candidate I don't care for, Carl, so my wallet could get a break!

I'm in, though, for Space. I like him a lot, and I particularly like him because he knocked out a conservative Democrat in the primary but he's going to win, despite the hand-wringers who thought that was just terrible.
I just put $20 in for Space on your page. This time I was chintzy and skimped on the tip to ActBlue.
(Don't follow my example on that, anybody!)

By the way, fix your header ? We're up to E-36, I think. Or down to E-36, whichever it is.

    •  Thanks, Christopher! (0+ / 0-)

      And thanks for the correction.
