UPDATE - ask Tony Snow who minimize this if they would let their kids exchange emails like thiswith an adult 1.  Do you believe sexually explixcit emails between an adult and a minor are appropriate?

2.  If you were made aware of this type of situation, would you act immediately?

3.  If a person in a position of authority was informed of the situation and failed to act, should that person be punished?

4.  Is there any excuse for not acting immediatley?

Thus, you would agree that any person, politician, clerk or whomever, who knew about this should be fired!!

If not, explain why you support this behaviour

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

Do you believe overly friendly emails between an adult and a minor are appropriate?

    Not friendly.

    OVERLY friendly!

They've admitted that much. Let them explain that.

INSTANT MESSAGE, not email.  This is the little game Republicans will play, the emails were tamer than the instant messages, so they will play on people confusion between the two to try to defend.

PLease use both email and IM's, or the word communications.

Republicans are hiding and only discussing the "emails" while ignoring the rest of the really disgusting garbage, don't let them get away with it.

mr republican, is that a flag in your pocket or are you just glad to see my son?

    •  My take on this is that Foley after... (0+ / 0-)

having been confronted by congressional leadership about his "overly friendly" emails switched to IM perhaps falsely thinking that no record would be kept.  Many individuals are not aware of the logging (preservation of the record) capability of advanced IM programs such as Trillion.

The ABC News reporter stated on Friday night that when Foley was shown the IM messages, after having been shown the emails a couple of days earlier and taking no action, resigned within hours.

What I have read so far seems to indicate that Foley switched to IM after the warning incident last year. Did he think this was a safer way to communicate his filth?
