Article Stub: In the Late 20th and early 21st centuries there was an a rejection of intellectualism that was similar to the rejection of industrialization by the Luddite movement of the the early 19th century. This movement included a number of powerful people who had sufficient education to distinguish intellectual from antellectual thought, but chose the latter as a path to power. These were the Antillectuals - those who espouse the tenants of antellectualism for political reasons. Prominent antillectuals from this time frame were; Pat Buchanan, George W. Bush, Jerry Falwell,Ralph Reed, and Pat Robertson. Key beliefs include; that the USA was founded as a "christian nation", that the separation of church and state is wrong, and science, and such non-science as creationism or intelligent design, are somehow equivalent.
