For some reason, I read David Brooks' piece in tomorrow's New York Times (subscription only). I admit that I am suffering from Foley fatigue but even I was shocked to discover that Foley's actions can't really be understood until we recognize that theatrical audiences are decadent, have no values, and are the worst type of hypocrites. Brooks actually goes on to compare the Foley scandal with the Vagina Monologues. I tell you, I couldn't make this up:

The first predator, of course, is Mark Foley, the Florida congressman. The second predator is a character in Eve Ensler's play, "The Vagina Monologues."
Foley is now universally reviled. But the Ensler play, which depicts the secretary's affair with the 13-year-old as a glorious awakening, is revered.
So, if you saw this play (and liked it), you are a decadent bastard who is no better than Foley. Who knew?
I have heard so much from the GOP that is rediculous concerning Foley, including blaming people who haven't been in power since before MTV went on the air. I don't know how much more I can stand.
