You can make the case that the G.O.P. died when they decided to allow radical evangelicals like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson to dictate their agenda. But, the Foley scandal has finally put the final nail in the coffin of a party that once claimed Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt as their own.
The Republican party considered themselves the undisputed heavyweight champion of moral values. Marginalizing the Democratic party as Godless ghouls who only give a shit about their secularist agendas.
The diet of moral values has succeeded in winning elections, but in the long run, it eventually would come to a screeching and devastating halt.
Before the email scandal broke, I didn't know Mark Foley ever existed nor did I know he was a congressman from Florida, nor did I know he was in charge of protecting America'a children from sexual predators.
Now, I do know that he's a creep. A disgraced politician who deserved the fall. A hypocrite. And a pathetic individual who's only talent so far is to create any excuse to remove the heat off of his back. First it was the alcohol, now it was a priest who molested him. What's next, the devil made you do it?
But, if there's one thing that Foley was successful at it was exposing the Republican party for what it is.
A corrupt group of men and women who are addicted to power and would go to great lengths to protect their positions, even if its turning a blind eye to one of their own who is a sexual predator.
The G.O.P has positioned themselves as the ONLY choice to protect Americans from danger. At home and abroad. They use marketable catchphrases like "cut and run" and "stay the course" to sucker the stupid and meek in exchange for votes.
Yet, when the G.O.P does win, their promises are nothing more than a smoldering pile of lying shit.
They failed to protect us from 19 hijackers who killed 3000 Americans on 9/11.
They failed to protect New Orleans residents from standing water.
And, they failed to protect America's children by turning a blind eye to a creep like Mark Foley.
Yet, they feel that in 31 days, Americans will see pass the cesspool of misinformation and vote Republican one more time.
House Speaker Dennis Hastert should be ashamed of himself.
He's not only killed the party of Lincoln, but has embarrassed himself and our country by acting like a blubbering buffoon.
The carnival of excuses just amazes me.
But, one in particular has led me to believe that House Speaker Hastert needs to go into therapy for paranoia, or that he needs to stop watching Bill O'Reilly.
House Speaker Hastert is now starting to blame ABC and of all people, George Soros for the problems.
Mr. Speaker, you might look like Santa Claus, but this is no time for belching fairy tales like a pig so you can sucker the meek and stupid into having sympathy for you.
Mr. Speaker, ABC and George Soros didn't have in a hand with this atrocity. You do. You allowed Rep. Foley to continue with his sycophantic fantasies, so you can position this party to win every election. The safety of a child doesn't mean a damn, just as long as the Republican party continues its bastardization of America and the freedoms that come with it.
You, Mr. Speaker, owe this country an apology. You owe it to your party and to the nation to step down. Now.
Rep. Hastert, you've proved that saying we'll keep you safe is a better marketing strategy than acutally doing the job of keeping us from harm's way.
The G.O.P. can no longer stake a claim as the front runners in moral values. Mark Foley proved that a Republican is susceptible to the mistakes and imperfections
that bind all of us.
There's no way to crawl out of this mess. Not even a Karl Rove "October surprise" could cover this enormous blemish.
May you rest in peace, members of the G.O.P.
Let's hope sympathy will find your way before they lower you to the ground.
Too bad, because you ain't getting none of mine.
