Okay. I'm in Wyoming and whether anyone polls this thing before november 7th or not, Democrat Gary Trauner is going to BEAT Barbara Cubin. In January, Gary will take his place in a Congress fully controlled by Democrats. Our local paper, the Uinta County Herald (Evanston, Wyoming) always prints my letters to the editor. Always.
Below the fold you'll find my latest. It will appear either next Tuesday or Friday.
Representative Cubin, you must be getting a little tired of all the questions and comments from your constituents regarding Republican Congressman Mark Foley and Speaker Hastert. I'm going to give you a break from that. On October 2nd in Casper, you said the following during a fundraiser with Vice President Cheney,
"The revenues to the Treasury have been 30 percent more than we expected, and that money goes to pay down the national debt; we've actually paid down the debt by a hundred million dollars for several years."
That is simply not true. It is a false statement. You voted to spend nearly $300 billion more than the federal government will take in this year. You voted to increase the national debt by nearly $300 billion this year. It doesn't take an accountant to realize that does not equal paying down the debt in any way, shape or form. I'm not going to be polite about this. There are two possibilities: either you're stupid or you're lying. Either you're stupid or you think Wyoming voters are.
For contrast, here is a true statement: you, Representative Cubin, and this Republican administration and Congress, in the last 6 years have borrowed more money than any government in the history of civilization. You're not good with money. You're not fiscally responsible. What's worse - if anything can possibly be worse - is that you've borrowed so many of those trillions of dollars from overseas. Your bunch has increased our foreign debt more (much much more) in the last 6 years than all previous administrations and congresses managed to borrow since this country was founded in 1776. This isn't fiscal mismanagement. This is fiscal malpractice. Shame on you.
Now you're up against a pro-gun, pro-business conservative Wyoming Democrat named Gary Trauner. I'm going to vote for him because we can no longer afford you, Representative Cubin. You spend too much. You borrow too much. Make all the false claims about your fiscal record you like. We're not buying it.
There is an upside, Represetative Cubin. Republican congressmen sexually preying upon teenage boys in the U.S. Congress neither bothers me nor surprises me. I've known for ages that any one political party describing itself as representing family values was a load of crap.
heh heh!
