Non-Foley Related GOP Corruption & Shenanigans
Ex-MA Gov. Bill Weld (R) sued over loan for Decker College Weld also ran for the GOP NY-GOV nod this year. He's got something else occupying his time now...
While her husband rhetorically shoots the messenger, Nancy Cunningham Surrenders Assets to Feds
Nancy Cunningham, who is divorcing her husband, is surrendering her share of the $2 million in proceeds the federal government reaped when it sold the Rancho Santa Fe home -- which the couple purchased with more than $1 million in funds obtained through bribes. U.S. Attorney Carol Lam, based in San Diego, announced the resolution of the legal battles with Nancy Cunningham, which came with her admission to civil tax violations with the IRS and essentially leaves her with no financial gain from her husband's criminal enterprise.
The deal, Lam said, "ensures that the Cunninghams in no way profit from the sordid conduct that occurred in this case."
Know your Republican operatives: The folks behind "Softer Voices"
Don't think Foleygate fall out is limited only to the House...
... from the DSCC's Fudge Report earlier this week:
Please Democrats, Use This!
From a TPM reader:
Don't you think that Republicans attacking Pelosi and CREW and bloggers over Foley is just like attacking Iraq when you know the crime was done by bin Laden? There they go again, Republicans attacking the wrong people when everyone knows who did the crime.
Tucker makes a funny
Tucker Carlson 10/5 on Hastert's presser
"If you were looking for the one man in this city less articulate than the president, you found him today"
Help Hastert Hide the Perv!
The online game... and a cartoon that I thought went along with that game:
This Past Week in Jokes & Funnies 10/6/06 Lots of Foley!
Link. What is Hastert's IM screen name?; "Calling President Bush a 'Failure' Like Calling Paris Hilton a 'Whore'"; Tucker Carlson zings Hastert; John Kerry zings Frist; videos; late night jokes; and more... My favorite late night jokes from this past week... all from Leno:
"On Rush Limbaugh yesterday, Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert said, 'We took care of Mr. Foley. We found out about it and asked him to resign.' Yeah, a year later. That's not just slow, that's FEMA slow."
"Remember the good old days when the only people that Republicans were screwing were the poor."
"What a month this has been for Republicans. George Allen's been on the front page and Mark Foley's been on every other page."
Adam Brody & Luke Perry Support OH-SEN candidate Sherrod Brown (D)!
Video of Adam Brody at the rally.
Free media!
Have you noticed how often the Dem attack ads dealing with Foley have gotten free media airtime on CNN and MSNBC? I saw the Kilroy (D) radio ad (OH-15) on MSNBC early this afternoon, and the Wetterling (D) TV ad has been aired on MSNBC and CNN several times.
