Thirty one days until the election . . .
THIRTY FREAKING ONE
744 hours until the election . . .
1. Can you think of five people who may not be registered to vote? These might be people that completely agree with your politics but have moved recently or just have not been motivated to vote. Can you motivate them? Illionis Democrat yesterday, " took my niece to the courthouse and got her registered to vote. That will be one more vote for Danny Stover and one vote closer to getting rid of John Shimkus."
Interested? Did something today to help elect a Dem? Tell us! Got an idea? Post it! This is a regular diary series where you can get a fire lit under your ass or a pat on the back for a job well done.
2. Ken in Tex "organized a local Dems club in my town that is going to meet every Thursday from now until the election." He organized his own Dem club! You can too! I know you always wanted to be the Decider.
3. Become a deputy registrar & sign up people to vote. Deadlines for registration can be found here . . . http://www.pfaw.org/...
4. Have you checked that YOUR voter registration is up to date & do you know where you go to vote?
5. Volunteer for a campaign. Numerous folks have volunteered over the past week. You may get stopped by the police like Brother Maynard but . . . .

6. Wear a t-shirt or campaign button every day.
7. Put a bumper sticker on your car.
8. Yard Signs! Many campaigns will deliver a sign to your yard. Check out their websites. Or it may be delivered by http://www.dailykos.com/... (chimine) who delivered 80 signs in two days.
9. Write a letter to the editor about the Republicans cover-up of the Foley scandal. Howard Dean and the DNC will help you with this task . . . >
http://www.democrats.org/
10.Want to make a campaign worker happy? Bake some cookies or a homemade meal. There will always be someone at headquarters that will devour whatever you bring in the door. It is highly appreciated.
11. Send an e-mail to everyone in your address book talking about your candidate.
12. Know someone in an old folks home? Then make sure they get their absentee ballot. Better yet, most states allow people to sign up for a permanent absentee ballot if they are permanently disabled. Help someone make this happen.
13. Did I mention making a contribution - say to Claire McCaskill who did VERY WELL on Meet the Press today and has 3 point lead in the latest Gallup poll. http://www.usatoday.com/...
14. from cmanaster . . . "I got together with the local Busby representative and we went to a street where I had seen two Bilbray signs. We knocked on doors, signs in hand - and when we were done, there were 8 Busby signs to answer the 2 for Bilbray. Transformative." Not only that cmanaster will match your donation to certain candidates. HOLY COW http://www.dailykos.com/...
15. Lawyer? Contact your local Democratic party for Voter Protection efforts - we will have lawyers at 126 locations here in Kansas City.
16. Mark November 6th & 7th off on your calendar. Ask for the day off. Now is the time - not the week before. Don't you want to be there for a candidate that day? Is really is an incredible atmosphere. I was at the Kerry KC headquarters in 2004 - it was electric! And we didn't even win!
17. There were many K-folks who got out and canvassed yesterday from Nevada to New Hampshire to Newport Beach . . .Make plans for next Saturday. There are many opportunities in canvassing rather than talking to people - they always need reinforcement.
18. Call your family & bug them to get active.
19. Make up a flyer and distribute to your neighbors. Find five people who you think might share your views. See if it is ok to call them the night before Nov. 7 and on Election Day as well.
20.Do you want to be a representative to your local or state Democratic party? Find out how now, so you will know about filing dates, party structure, etc. . . for 2008.
21. Go to your local newspaper message board or blog & let your views be known. I frequent the KC message board & blow up the right-wingers post. I call them stupid and they call me a cunt & voila, the post is gone. So the rest of the posts are nice liberal & Democratic talking points.
22. What is going on in your local races for state House and Senate seats? Does someone there need help? Remember some of these campaigns are run out of the family basement, so be patient and persistent. I made calls for a State Rep candidate in Kansas & it is the first time there has been a Dem in the race for eight years! Go 50 State Strategy!
23. Go to Church with a sticker or campaign button on.

24. Volunteer to be a poll watcher, a judge or election official. There is usually some training involved but don't we want to be the ones making decisions at the polls?
25. Freaking Donate. Have you seen the recommended diary about Larry Kissell? If not, go
http://www.dailykos.com/... and then donate to him.
26. Do your own rally - stand on a street corner with your sign like AnotherMassLiberal. Or check out what ellicatt is doing for her candidate, "meet with the county's volunteer coordinator for Massa and take a good amount of handouts/palm cards from them . . . The handouts/palm cards are for the weekend. My immediate area is having a "Fall Festival" event that draws literally 10's of thousands of visitors if the weather cooperates. I live within walking distance & I'll be walking the crowds (by myself) handing out the cards and talking about Eric Massa."
27. Have you written a DKos Diary about your candidate? Write it, pimp it, whore it . . . set a goal of $100 for donations from the Kossack world. You will be surprised what people do when they are asked.
28. HAVE I MENTIONED GIVING MONEY? Really, you must dig deep now. What could you sacrifice to preserve a democracy? Nobody here thinks that is overly dramatic. Cheeseismoldymilk is giving up a beer a day for the cause. Go show http://www.bryankennedyforcongress.com/ and show moldy some love.
29. Captain the ship. Find out if you can be a precinct captain. Want more info . . . http://www.dailykos.com/...
30. Find out voter laws in your state. It may make the difference on Election Day.
And Number Thirty-One: GIVE MONEY NOW!!!
