The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) has revised it's statement on the resignation of child predator, and ex-Congressman Mark 'sick, sick, sick' Foley at least two times. As MikeBaseball
informed us yesterday morning, the Center's first two efforts we're woefully innapproptate:
Statement #1:
"Congressman Mark Foley's resignation is a loss to Florida and the nation. He has been a hard-working, dedicated and effective Congressman. He will be missed."

The first revision must have occured sometime early yesterday morning. When I looked at their website just before 6:30 AM here in California they had already deleted the words
"He will be missed" from the end of their brief statement.
Perhaps emails from the Kos Community helped them see the distatefulness of their ways. Here's their most current revision:
Statement
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)
On the Resignation of Congressman Mark Foley
September 30, 2006
"In response to the numerous media inquiries we have received, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is issuing the following statement regarding the resignation of Florida Congressman Mark Foley:
News reports regarding interactions over the Internet between former Congressman Mark Foley and Congressional pages are deeply troubling and convey strong suggestions of child sexual exploitation. NCMEC is not privy to the specific facts of the case and thus, it is inappropriate for NCMEC to comment or speculate about them.
Child sexual exploitation via the Internet has become an enormous problem, reaching into every aspect of society. It is imperative that every person become more vigilant and that we enhance steps to keep children safe online.
Congressman Foley has been an effective and dedicated Member of Congress. Nonetheless, if it is determined that he has engaged in acts which have harmed children or put them in jeopardy, like any other person, he must be held accountable. If he has violated the law, he should be prosecuted."
At the time of this writing Florida Governor Jeb Bush has not posted an official statement. Perhaps Florida Republican Party Chairwoman Carole Jean Jordan will have something to add to the comment she gave to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:
"Congressman Foley served as my congressman. He's given a great deal of time and effort and extreme good hard work to the state of Florida. I just so appreciate all the things he's done over the years."
— Florida Republican Party Chairwoman Carole Jean Jordan
