After listening to the last half of today's CT-Sen debate, I have an idea for a Lamont ad that plays off of his tendency to talk a bit too fast.
This is just a quick idea I had to take what may be a negative - Ned's speedy, almost frenetic style of talking - and turn it into a positive. Feel free to tweak it or ignore it as you see fit. To save me a little time, I've left Ned's actual dialogue to your imagination.
*****
INT. DEBATE HALL
Ned Lamont is standing at a podium, speaking rapidly.
NED LAMONT: (A clip of Lamont rattling off issues he's focused on in rapid fire, ideally a clip from today's debate, or staged if necessary.)
CUT TO:
INT. HOUSE #1 DAY
A calm living room scene, in stark contrast to our opening clip of Ned. Voter #1 is seated and looks relaxed.
VOTER #1: So many things have gone wrong in Washington and Ned just has ideas about... ...all of them.
CUT TO:
INT. DEBATE HALL
NED LAMONT: (More rapid fire talking about issues.)
CUT TO:
INT HOUSE #2 DAY
A married couple sit casually on a sofa.
WIFE/HUSBAND: If you don't know where Ned stands on an issue, he'll be more than happy to tell you.
CUT TO:
EXT. HOUSE #2 DAY
We see Ned Lamont standing at the front door talking rapidly to this same married couple. They smile and listen politely as they wait for him to finally take a breath.
NED LAMONT: (More rapid fire delivery of issues.)
CUT TO:
INT. LAMONT HOUSEHOLD DAY
Annie Lamont sits in her living room.
ANNIE LAMONT: Of course, being Ned's Wife, I'm verrrry familiar with his ideas for getting this country back on track.
CUT TO:
INT. LAMONT KITCHEN TABLE DAY
Annie and the kids try to eat while Ned rattles on about his ideas (all good ones of course).
BACK TO:
INT. LAMONT HOUSEHOLD DAY
Back to Annie on the couch.
ANNIE LAMONT: I reeeeeally hope he wins. It'd be a shame to keep that much enthusiasm bottled up in one household.
BACK TO:
INT. LAMONT KITCHEN TABLE DAY
Back to the kitchen table scene. Annie nods politely as Ned keeps talking.
FADE TO:
INSERT:
We continue to hear Ned's voice as we fade to the Vote for Lamont logo.
