UPDATE: Keith Olbermann's special commentary made me cry tonight

How about you?

His brilliant commentary on the death of Habeas Corpus strikes deep within me, my father is a judge who served 35+ years with the USAF JAG, and he was appalled by the policy of torture which went against the very policies he wrote about in terms of treating prisoners, that the UCMJ later adopted. (his recommendations, along with others)

Keith was so passionate, so real, so spot on about the dangers that we now face, that I cry for my Republic...  Is it over?

Crooks and Liars now has at least a link about this commentary and will have the video up as soon as they upload it. It's Keith's most important commentary.

This in contrast to this incessant flapping from the crowd on Joe Scarborough right now.  Can someone SHUT THEM UP???

    the same time the other person did.  I have a little more of relevance to say because my dad helped write the detainee prisoner laws before it got usurped by this administration.  If I can get him to say it.

    I'm gonna try and get my Dad to type up something about how this is so  against military protocol.  Wish me luck.

      and I think the reason he's so reticent is that this scares him terribly.  He's in his 70's and he's worried about his retirement or SOMETHING (and he hasn't told me what).  I've read what he wrote in this, he's anti-torture, he's pro-constitution.  Maybe he's worried about being in an internment camp, I dunno.

      for at least two reasons.

      One, I'm in law school, and LOVE constitutional law. One of my favorite undergrad professors argued a case on behalf of some Japanese interrees in front of the Supreme Court. I know where he'd stand on this.

      Two, I know the current Judge Advocate General for the Navy. I haven't talked to him about this, but I am dying to - as well as the Swift affair, since that's all Navy.

        while I know the current Navy JAG, circumstances dictate that we do not speak on any sort of regular basis. And our politics are polar opposites, have been since we met. So your dad has no reason to fear exposure from me - if that's a concern.

  Bush is an abuser.  This man is a serial killer.  he's the very worst example of a President I could have imagined.  He's a killer, a  sadist, he HATES America.

  I have never in my life seen a more corrupt President of our country, and I never imagined such a politician would get in control.  This is the problem with having hope, things get out of control before your know it.

  I am absolutely devastated.  This country is over.  WE have a dictator in control.

  I used to DEFEND our Constitution with my body.  I was a security detail at the US National Archives.  I am appalled, disgusted and absolutely shocked at our media.  This media has totally ignored the dismantling of our Constitution, because they are all a bunch of lilly livered yellow bastards.  David Ignatius... WHERE ARE YOU?  KOS!!!! WHERE are YOU????  The only people covering this are Randi Rhodes, Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow!

  Is it just up to us?  Obviously I can't get the voice, I posted on this and immediately lost my place on it.  

  Why hasn't Markos written about this?  WHY HASN'T HE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS?  What is HE afraid of?

  I'm in despair.  I'm really in despair.  This is absolutely the worst thing that has ever happened in this country and NO ONE is DOING ANYTHING.

  What must we do to wake people up, including those in our own country????

  Sherrod Brown voted for this bill.  He is a traitor.  I don't care if he didn't read it, as he claims.  He's a traitor, pure and simple.  There's no excuse for voting for this.  NONE.  No one with a lick of sense would have voted for it.

  I'm beside myself.  I'm not sure what that means literally, but I know what it means figuratively.  I don't know WHAT to do to stop you and mye from being "disappeared" by an unknown government agency.
