While it's never too late to do something about it, we have to be planning for it now. We need to organize so that there are people monitoring the counts and the access to electronic voting machines, ideally in as many precincts as possible, especially in states with known GOP troublemakers, like Blackwell in Ohio.
Think of this as a thread where you can suggest ways we can be pro-active.
Sure I'm scared, which is not productive, but more importantly, I'm angry. Follow me past the fold, if you are mad as hell as well...
We need to get the media involved, NOW!
The phrase "largest number of electronic voting machines in use ever" needs to be understood and taken seriously.
My prediction: without dramatic action to thwart such an event, come the day after the election, all of us will be shaking our heads, wondering how we didn't win the house or the senate, and the same people who call folks like me tin foil hat wearers will start again saying that it wasn't fraud, that it wasn't Diebold.
I for one am tired of this lack of interest in preserving a system that people around the world see is broken and untrustworthy. ARE YOU WITH ME????
UPDATE: Posted by Jules Siegel downthread:
Kos sets the tone
There are voter fraud diaries that make the recommended list and stay there for a while. I had one myself a few weeks ago. The problem is that there's no mechanism for activism, no real discussion of how to proceed.
Kos also arrogantly discouraged "fraudsters" in 2004 and some of them were purged, I believe. People are not inclined to face him down. Nonetheless the site is a supremely important organizing medium.
Money is being raised for candidates, but what good is that if the votes are hacked? The lack of attention to aggressive measures to counterattack voter fraud could make the fundraising moot.
That's it, right there.

League of Women Voters, http://www.lwv.org:
Motion to adopt the following resolution related to program requiring a voter-verified paper ballot or paper record with electronic voting systems.
Whereas: Some LWVs have had difficulty applying the SARA Resolution (Secure, Accurate, Recountable and Accessible) passed at the last Convention, and
Whereas: Paperless electronic voting systems are not inherently secure, can malfunction, and do not provide a recountable audit trail,
Therefore be it resolved that:
The position on the Citizens' Right to Vote be interpreted to affirm that LWVUS supports only voting systems that are designed so that:
they employ a voter-verifiable paper ballot or other paper record, said paper being the official record of the voter's intent; and
the voter can verify, either by eye or with the aid of suitable devices for those who have impaired vision, that the paper ballot/record accurately reflects his or her intent; and
such verification takes place while the voter is still in the process of voting; and
the paper ballot/record is used for audits and recounts; and
the vote totals can be verified by an independent hand count of the paper ballot/record; and
routine audits of the paper ballot/record in randomly selected precincts can be conducted in every election, and the results published by the jurisdiction.
