        Yeah, it's more fun to complain about how millions of other people's dollars are distributed.  Put in tens of your own, though, and they'll go exactly where you want.

        For my part, I just kicked in a big pile to the DNC's new matching program, a slightly smaller pile to the DCCC's general fund, a medium size pile to the DCCC's dedicated GOTV effort, and a series of smaller contributions to my own pet races Webb, Hodes, McNerney, and Lamont.

            and I'm not accusing anyone of foot-dragging.  But if every one-line comment that turned up in these threads saying "Boooooo!" came with a bit of the remedy attached we'd be much farther along in the game.  We'd be leading the party institutions instead of following them.

            My cynic alert is currently crying out that too much accusing safe incumbents of being stingy is going to result in a wave of "if they're not supporting my candidate, why should I?"  What I'm hoping to do is to get everybody to realize that they can't rely on others to do what needs to be done.  Sounds like you're already on board.

    I do hope these decisions were made on the basis of all of them having adequate funds on hand for the stretch run.

    I would recommend more contribs to these folks. Those candidates getting the largest outlays from the DCCC don't need our help (monetary, anyway) except for GOTV in their disricts.

        This is the DCCC's pet race. Duckworth was their handpicked candidate. They supported her vigorously against a primary opponent (with strong netroots support). They've done major fundraising for her. She has already spent $2.6 million and still has $200k COH. IL-06 is a very expensive race already. I hope Duckworth wins, but a lot of the DCCC's resources are going into it alone.

          Both GOP candidate funds and others (RNC, RNCC, others) have been making huge ad buys targeting IL-6.  The GOP is even hitting broadcast telly - i.e., entire chicago market - ad buys. Before the cash injection, Duckworth campaign COH disadvantage was over a million bucks.

        Ads in the Chicago market are very expensive too.  I'm guessing the $125,000 being spent in WI-8 will go just about as far in the Green Bay market as the larger sums being spent in Phlly and Chicago.

          I read that somewhere and I think it's for about 1 - 30 second ad an hour. Roskam and the NRCC are spending about 4 million so far. That's a lot of money that isn't going into other Repub races. Duckworth needs every cent she can get.

      If you could see all the NRCC negative ads on the Sunday Eagles broadcasts, you'd understand why it's high time the DCCC came into Philadelphia in a big way.

      Philly is always expensive because it's the fourth largest urban area in the county, but it's especially bad this year, what with three big congressional races (PA 6-7-8), two big senate races (PA and NJ), a big gubernatorial race (PA), and a few state leg races with enough money to be on the air.

      I hope that the Weldon scandal takes that race off the table so that the DCCC can concentrate on the Murphys.

      Aside from immigration, Bilbray is pretty liberal (for a Republican, and with the exception of immigration which he won't make any progress on) so it isnt like we are giving away a seat to a far righty.  The district is 10+ points to the right and very expensive to campaign in, you MUST start with a quality candidate.  Busby is a 3 time loser with a disconnect between her brain and her mouth.  Find a real candidate.

      The negative ads around here against all three Democratic challengers are absolutely disgusting. Not just distortions, but flat-out lies. One of Gerlach's ads was even too much for Comcast, which stopped running it after complaints and proof that the lies were lies.

      Frankly, from what I've seen and heard, I think Lois Murphy is losing the battle of negative ads here. I think she ought to hit back with much more negative ads than the ones I've seen.

      Gerlach took $30K from Delay and donated $2K to Delay's legal defense fund. A bunch of Delay's money came from Abramoff and a bunch of his money came from the Tan family in the Commonwealth of North Mariana Islands (CNMI), which profited from businesses that engaged in forced abortions and prostitution of Philippinos lured to CNMI.

      Our own Dengre has written many diaries about this. Check out ACTION: How to use Abramoff to WIN in November (See CA-04) or CA-04: Brown Hits Doolittle Hard on Abramoff, Forced Abortion and Sex Trafficking for just two examples.

      I would like to see any Republican who took money from Delay tied to these abuses, but especially Gerlach. Gerlach is the Republican who ran negative ads about Lois Murphy in 2004 that suggested that she supported the Taliban's treatment of women. Gerlach is among the scummiest of the Republican scumbags and I'm really glad the DCCC has thrown $2M her way. Now I just want to see her use it to hit him hard.

      CO-04 is a more habitible district for a Democrat on pure demographic terms, but CO-05 is an open seat with a Republican running who is off-the-radar whacko (not that Musgrave in CO-04 isn't) and won't be endorsed by the exiting Republican (Hefley)

      We are running about equally good candidates in each of those districts, I tend to think CO-05 is more winnable this year, and CO-04 more winnable in general.

      Neither one is all that winnable. Paccione is sinking rather fast -- due to some effective smears by Musgrave  -- and the absentee ballot requests in the biggest county in the district, Wells, look terrible. Angie's still fighting, but it doesn't look great.

      And despite that great poll in CO-5, you have to realize that nearly all the undecideds are Republicans. I personaly don't believe more will show up and decide to vote D than will hold their nose to vote R.

      I don't think either seat makes the top 40 anymore.

  Chris Carney is an excellent candidate and he is ahead in the polls.  However I know that most of that money is going to go the commercials they have been showing and I am afraid that the commercials are going to start having less positive effect.  There are several playing I really don't like and I would love to see something different, creative and positive hit the airwaves.
