66% think R's deliberately covered up the Foley mess

Thu Oct 19, 2006 at 03:42:52 PM PDT

Some interesting data from a poll at Faux News:

The bombshell:

Two-thirds of voters say they think the Republicans knew about Rep. Foley's inappropriate behavior and intentionally failed to take action.

Got that? They intentionally covered it up.

This is game, set, match. Unless the R's can somehow make it a bipartisan coverup, they are TOAST.

more interesting tidbits:

Here we see Republican talking points, with NO basis in fact, being believed by nearly half of those polled. Time to break out the truth and hit some heads.

At the same time, there is also suspicion of the Democrats' on the scandal as 49 percent say the Democrats also knew about the behavior and waited until the election approached to release the information.

Bullshit. Of course. But effective if we let it stand.

But get this part. Behold the depth of hatred for Bill Clinton:

The public is divided as to how Foley's actions compare to the relationship between former President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky; 47 percent believe that the actions of Foley are worse than what Clinton did, 19 percent say what Clinton did was worse, and 31 percent see no difference between the two.

Views are largely divided among party lines -- Democrats believe what Foley did was worse by a 65 to 8 margin, while Republicans believe what Clinton did was worse by 33 to 26 percent.

Got that? fully 1/3 of Republicans think that getting a BJ from a consenting adult is worse than sending children sexually explicit emails.

Unbelievable.

Some people are beyond help.

Personally, I think the simple items like this turn people. Knowing that a strong majority think that the Republicans covered up for a child predator can turn some people. The herd likes to follow the herd. People who hurt children are universally loathed.

Beat this issue like a drum.

today? not sure who took the "walk of shame" today.

How do you know a Republican is lying? Ask one: If the Republicans can lower gas prices for 60 days before an election, why won't they do it all the time?

  •  They don't "think" that, (0+ / 0-)

Got that? fully 1/3 of Republicans think that getting a BJ from a consenting adult is worse than sending children sexually explicit emails.

They are feeling, not thinking.  And what they feel is:

    my people GOOD
    your people BAD
    SAY ANYTHING to support same.

Still it is interesting that the knee-jerk defensiveness overrides what would normally register on even the most conservative sexual-morality scale.

By the way the figures could on the face of them almost be taken to indicate a broad-minded equivalence of hetero and homo misdeeds ... but somehow I doubt thit actually means THAT.
