Rehab- the Republican cure for the Cardinal sin?

Mon Oct 02, 2006 at 12:18:21 PM PDT

Apparently, Rightie has once again deployed the tried and true maxim when the going gets tough (i.e. you get caught repeatedly soliciting sex from a child who works for you, you get caught illegally purchase narcotic prescription drugs, you get caught taking bribes from a Rovian agent in exchange for your vote or you get caught displaying an egregious racist streak) the "tough" get to rehab.

More below the fold

Before "addiction" Limbaugh clamored for   draconian treatment for drug users   Before "addiction" Foley "protected" children and assaulted the Supreme Court for coddling pedophiles while applauding Atty. Gen. Ashcroft's toughness on the issue.  Before his "addiction" House leaders saw fit to have convicted felon Bob Ney  teach ethics to new Representatives. Mel Gibson? well enough said.

Treatment is the rational, fair and humane way to deal with addicts as they have a medical problem that is deserving of our sympathy and help.  However, I am sick and tired of mean spirited, hypocritical, lying, denying wingnuts running to rehab every time they GET CAUGHT doing or saying something reprehensible.  It would seem a little easier to find sympathy for these pathetic creatures if they sought salvation before committing the cardinal sin- getting caught.

p.s. Hastert should be entering rehab soon.
