There has been a disturbing trend in the last few months here at dKos. It started when Dean was the front runner and people were saying that they would never vote for him. In the legacy days there were constant calls for loyalty oaths from Dean supporters in the event that he was not the nom. At that time, to a person, they said they would vote for the nom. whoever it was. I had to laugh everytime someone said they would not vot for Dean after he became the frontrunner.
Now that Dean has dropped back in the pack those fears are materializing. There is no excuse for saying you will not vote for the eventual nom regardless of who it is. There was none when it was against Dean and there is none now that it is Kerry. The alternative is just too unacceptable. Bush cannot be allowed a second term.
I am as furious as alot of you about what we allowed the media to do to Dean. There were far to many people who took satisfactin out of the Goring of Dean. However that does not excuse what is going on now. Think of the ramafications of a Bush second term.
- The appointment of between 1 and 3 Supreme Court justices.
- The dismantelling of some of the most important social programs we have.
- The destruction of decades worth of environmental legislation that has taken us from Indians crying next to polluted ponds (a reference to a commercial in the '70's) to being able to swim in many of our water ways again.
- The ability to destroy every workers right that has been gained in the last century.
There are so many more things that Bush can destroy that I would need every diary created for the next 3 weeks to list them. We cannot allow any of this to happen.
We have 2 choices come November. We can sit back and let the GOP take away everything we love about this country. Or we can vote for whoever the Nom is and make sure everyone we know does the same.
We can work on changing our party from within only after we defeat King George.
In the end it was not just the media that dropped Dean back. There are people in this country who would rather you blow sunshine up their as*es than hear the truth. There are also those in the party that believe there is someone who is better for the office. Pity the first group and try to understand the second. The first are sheep and the second have very valid reasons and are doing what they think is best for the country.
