Lew Katz, Democratic candidate for Congress, keeps up the pressure on Lyin' Steve LaTourette. This weekend Katz will launch his second radio ad blasting LaTourette's connection to the scandal-plagued Republican trio of Abramoff, Ney, and Delay.
While TV ads would be preferable, in this Northeast Ohio district radio ads can be effective. Katz continues to use his limited resources wisely, trying to make this race competitive and fighting the 50-state strategy.
Meanwhile, LaTourette continues to remain silent in the district, barely campaigning and ignoring his base. This has all the makings of a major upset: Democratic wave of support, hard-working Democratic candidate, over-confident Republican incumbent, disgruntled electorate.
Here's the text of the ad:
My mother always siad, "Show me who your friends are and I'll tell you what you are."
Let's take a look at Congressman LaTourette's friends.
Jack Abramoff, convicted superlobbyist: LaTourette wrote letters on behalf of Abramoff's clients, and then those same clients donated to LaTourette.
Congressman Tom Delay, indicted on money laundering: Steve voted to reduce ethical standards for Delay, and then Delay donated to LaTourette.
Congressman Bob Ney, best man at Steve LaTourette's latest wedding: accepted bribes from Jack Abramoff and his clients, and then -- you got it -- donated to LaTourette.
Abramoff, Delay, Ney, and LaTourette. Congressman, have you no shame?
On November 7th, let's clean house. Vote Lew Katz for Congress.
You can listen to the ad here, although it won't start airing until this weekend.
