Begging Ain't Easy, but in order to change the course of the country it is worth it.  The more I beg, and the more successful we are in begging, the fewer people that will have to beg for survival in the future.

The other side says, "Vote Democratic and Die" not verbatim, but you know what I mean.  Yes, "Smear and Fear" but it is coming in wide distribution.  It will change some minds.  Let's hope not enough, but it will change some minds.

What we need to ask is "What will life look like if you survive under the Republicans?"

What happens if Democrats don't control at least one House?  What happens if they are empowered after November 7th?  It is unthinkable and it can not be allowed to happen

Stay with me below

I can not imagine the cuts in services to average people and the extended breaks to the corporations and the mushrooming of war that will come if they stay in power?

WE can not allow that to happen, and I can not stop begging.  I'm begging so you don't have to!

I am in a race that no one outside of this district believed would be competitive, including Mike Pence, since he lives in Virginia.

Mr. Pence is spending lots of money on media.  Money that normally goes to other Republican campaigns at this time.   He wouldn't be spending it if he didn't have to.  His internal numbers show that we are closing at a steady and significant pace.  His spending is increasing as well, but there will be a point that it is wasteful, if they are not there already.

We have had the exact same plan since the beginning and we are sticking to it.  The plan has been to run the leanest possible campaign and be a legitimate proponent in the House for Public Financing of Elections and taking the big money out.

He has laid out 700,000 in tv.  We are spending 7,000 on radio targeted to cover the district with 4 spots a day for 14 days.  Not exactly saturation, but it is only geared for the middle, the bases are energized.  At least one is!

So, I am here asking for contributions to help finish a fundraising effort for radio ads.

My wife posted earlier, and made it sound like we were almost ready to do cable ads.
We have them filmed and ready to go, but radio has a much wider reach here, and we still have to get the basics of the bare bones radio in place.

Everything in the campaign has been open source and so here are the stations we are already set for, and then the ones that we are asking for funding for.  We started out asking for $12.50 which was the average cost to get the radio spots on the air.  We have been able to make some serious progress.  You can check the coverage maps, see what you are investing in, so that you know where your donation is going.  Stations we are on, or are booked to start Tuesday 10/24 through November 7th; WHON, WQLK Richmond, WMDH, New Castle, WQHK, Ft. Wayne/Bluffton/Decatur, WKKG, Columbus (Pence's hometown station), WIFE Connersville.  Those are covered.  We are going to do 4 a day for 14 days on WLBC,WHTY,WERK,WHTI,WHBU,WURKWXFN, covering Muncie, Anderson, and surrounding areas.  To get the 392 spots on the air is $2919.  Ask any ad person, that is a deal.

Ok, this is people powered politics.  We need some funding for this, and we are coming to you.  We have already had 16 donors for $493.95  THANK YOU ALL! (Happy Dance! Ok, Celebration over.)  WE Need more.  So here I beg.  We need 2425.05 more to get the ads bought and in rotation by Tuesday of next week.  My wife was asking for 29.19 and for 100 donors.

I know you are hit for cash all the time, I know you have given and given.  We don't complain and stop because we haven't been given big dollar party help, we keep going and doing what we have to with what we have.  We need to get a minimum 392 spots on the air, and the average cost is $7.43.  We have raised $493.95 which brings the average per spot down to $6.12.  That's what I have the hat in hand for, $6.12 to put one radio spot on the air.  If you can buy 10, please do, if you can buy 100, please do, if you can buy 343 (Maximum contribution of $2100) that makes it go quicker! :o)  If you can buy 1, it is one more than we would have without you!  If you can't give, send an email to 10 friends, and send them to the virtual campaign heagquarters and ask them to give securely and Democratically through ActBlue.

We started out needing $7331.68.  We now only need $2425.   Help If you can.

Thanks for reading and supporting Democracy

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

need help and have been neglected.  It would have been much easier to quit and say, there is no money, so there is no use doing this, but there is a reason, there is hope, and we are giving those people a voice.  I am one of those people.  Thank you for helping us.

That's what I have the hat in hand for, $6.12 to put one radio spot on the air.

OK, so I was asking folks earlier for $12.00 for this campaign.

Now, I want y'all to give until it hurts.
How about $12.24? That pays for two l'il radio spots.
Add a kossack penny, it's a donation of $12.25, for one of our favorite candidates.

Step right up, step right up. Do I hear $12.25?

Give on Barry's own page, or here:

I just sent a few bucks via Christopher's actblue page, and will recommend this diary to keep it visible. You'd think with the thousands of people who visit this site, we could raise the few grand needed to get your ads on the air.

Christopher, I liked that your actblue page featured so many Native Americans who are running for local office. I'm really scraping up the last few coins in the backs of drawers and from in the couch here, but dropped a few tenners into some of those candidates campaign buckets as well.

      •  Native American candidates (0+ / 0-)

It was a coincidence that I turned up three Native Americans (actually, there were five, but two of them lost their primary), in the search for good, pro-choice candidates running in South Dakota.  It was a welcome one, though.

And I kept the names of those two other candidates on file; if they run again next time, you'll see 'em on my pages.

...Mike Pence is one of only three people her (recently deceased) golden retriever ever growled at (the other two were a policeman who later was fired for corruption, and Pence's predecessor, McIntosh).

Best of luck taking him out; it would be nice to have a Democrat representing Muncie when I go home to visit the 'rents!

I also donated yesterday and urge everyone to recommend this to keep it from scrolling away.  The diary that Sherri put up yesterday at MyDD is still on the recommended list, hope that is helping with the fundraising.  Good luck and God bless.

Barry, I just sent another donation your way.  Is Bluffton in your district?  I'll send your info to my brother-in-law who was raised there.  Thanks for running.

    •  Bluffton is in the district (0+ / 0-)

and one of the first places we went, when we kicked off the campaign.  Beautiful city, and Sherri wanted to move there as soon as we got into town.  Your brother in law should be hearing the radio spots on K105 FM starting Tuesday.  Small world!

      •  Bluffton? (0+ / 0-)

Damn. My family's roots in Indiana stretch from Bluffton to Jeffersonville - and then over the river in Louisville going back close to 200 years. (One of my mother's ancestors walked thru the Cumberland Gap and just kept walking).

Lemme see if I can find another tenner stuck on a book or something.

  •  Talking points that will get you free press (0+ / 0-)

Talking points on Iraq and security - hit you opponent with these and you'll get lot's of free headlines.

    1. Every time a foreign power has invaded a Gulf state without the overt support of the regional powers, a guerilla war has resulted. That’s why the current mess in Iraq was 100% predictable.
    1. We know that Iraq posed no imminent threat to anyone – in fact it was held together by duct tape and bubble gum. We weren’t invited in to free Iraq’s, we invaded, which is why we’re being treated as invaders.
    1. The middle east is the most politically and religiously fractious region in the world, and also the most strategically vital. THAT is why foreign powers should behave cautiously, if you upset the gentle balance (as we now have), things can go from bad to utterly disastrous, (as could happen yet). Nothing in Iraq was worth risking destabilizing the middle east over – BushCo still doesn’t understand that.
    1. If U.S forces left today the power void would be filled by Syria and Iran (axis of evil anyone?). Yet the U. S. presence is unsustainable, so before coalition forces withdraw we must attempt to replace them with a pan-Islamic force that can provide security without being viewed as invaders. See item one’ll notice this should have been done in the first place!!!!!!!!
    1. Invading Iraq has produced five winners: 1) al Queda (growing stronger every day) 2) the Taliban (which Frist now wants to make the legitimate government in Afghanistan?!) 3) Iran (see America getting hurt and see’s their Shia allies in the catbird seat in Iraq), 4) Syria (gets to use the Sunni unemployed to attack American’s and play spoiler to U. S. interests), and 5) China (who will gladly buy Iraqi oil once the U. S. finally gets thrown out)
    1. The NIE report gives enough evidence to have Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld arrested for providing material support to terrorists – THAT’S how bad Iraq is for America.

And 7) Osama is still alive and in command. The Anthrax Killer (the only known terrorist to ever have a known WMD) is still free and possibly producing more anthrax right here under Bush’s nose. Iraq is weakening our military and making anti-American forces stronger. We have no answer to a nuclear North Korea. We have no answer for Palestinians without a homeland which underlies most anti-Americanism in the middle east. Our biggest economic competitor, China, can kill our economy overnight by flooding the global currency market with a hundred billion US dollars. How is it even possible that the GOP is viewed as the party that keeps America safe?
