Jerusalem (AHN) - Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abu Gheit on Saturday reiterated his government's earlier assessment that Hezbollah was to blame for the summer's war between Israel and Lebanese terror group.
Gheit said in an interview on Egyptian television that Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah had instigated the conflict in an effort to justify the group's continued existence as an armed fighting force.
Hezbollah was feeling the pressure from the international community to disarm. The Shebaa Farms ruse was'nt working considering it's mandated by the UN to be Syrian territory. The UN had verified Israel's complete withdrawl from Lebanon. "Nasrallah the Flip Flopper" needed a reason to justify Hezbollah's continued existance as an armed fighting force.
That something came on July 12, when, under the cover of a rocket barrage on northern Israel, Hezbollah operatives conducted a cross-border raid, killing eight Israeli soldiers and taking two others captive.

Perhaps this is the beginning of the Sunni/Israeli alliance that has been percolating since the I/L conflict. An alliance that would offset the gaining Iranian influence in the region. Rumors swirled that Olmert met with a top senior Saudi official. Egypt is reiterating it's blame of Hezbollah for starting the conflict, which is sort of surprising.
Olmert recently met a very senior Saudi official in Jordan and Livni has been invited to a conference in Qatar.

(Anwar) Sadat said he had come to the Knesset because he realized he had to break a psychological barrier, and he did.....if King Abdullah were to come, 'the effect on Israeli public opinion would be electrifying.'
