I can't find anything online yet, but the local NPR station in Columbia is reporting that they have heard from Larry Hughes of Mason-Dixon Polling, doing political polling for the GOP, that the RNC (possibly the NRSC?) has decided to pull resources out of Missouri because the trend lines show that Talent cannot win. Resources are supposed to now be going to VA and TN.
I will update as soon as I can find confirmation.
In the meantime, go here to help out the McCaskill campaign. This thing ain't over yet.
UPDATE: 10/24/06. KBIA had an 'actuality' (tape) of Hughes actually confirming this just after 5:00 local time. He said that the RNC & NRSC had concluded that trend lines were against Talent, so were moving money to TN & VA. KBIA tried to contact the RNC, got a denial. But I just heard the tape of the guy from Mason-Dixon saying it.
UPDATE 2: 5:35 - This might be a dis-information effort, but they have the guy from Mason-Dixon (now identified as 'Larry Harris') on tape saying the the RNC and NRSC are pulling out money "behind the scenes" to use in TN and VA. Judge accordingly.
UPDATE 3: 10/25 8:10 AM - KBIA had an extended news item on this report just after the top of the 8:00 hour in their local newscast. They still have nothing posted on their website, but you should be able to hear the podcast here: http://www.kbia.org/podcasts/index.php
It was a different reporter going over the material this time, and they had the tape not only from Larry Harris, but also from someone from the RNC denying that they're changing their money allocation (also denied they've pulled out of OH or PA).
I will call later this morning and ask them to post the report on their website, and update this diary one last time if they do.
