In my opinion, there is only one thing more important than getting rid of the republicans, and that is cleaning up the elections. You see, I'm an optimist, and (at least this morning) I truly believe that the Repiblicans actually cheated their way into office. The gatekeepers of the votes are the Secretaries of State.
In 2008, we need honest brokers of elections counting the votes and providing access to the polls. That's why this year I'm going to be a poll worker. We need technology-savvy people in there at the polls to help make sure that SNAFUs don't have an effect on who gets to vote, and whose vote gets counted. I see this as directly working for democracy.

You can help too.

For those that do not have the time to invest in being a poll worker, please donate:

And especially those in California, please help Deborah Bowen.

Democracy is at stake.

election integrity. We get that solved and the rest will follow far more easily.

  •  I'll tip you anyway! (0+ / 0-)

I will volunteer as an observer for 2008. I can't do much this time except give money.

Is it crazy to ask for UN observers considering the last two presidential elections?  Fat chance of that happening, I admit. And I want the old voting machines back - no electronic ones!

I agree with you; our democracy is at stake.

    •  No need to be an observer (0+ / 0-)

just work the polls as a poll worker. That way you get a close-up look, and also can make a difference when people are confused, or the machines malfunction, or whatever starts to go wrong. We need to be there to help the process get done as efficiently as possible!

By the way, Bowen's first name is "Debra", not "Deborah".
