First off, here's a list of seats likely to switch in the Pennsylvania House, from
here:
The Republicans in danger include Mike Diven, Tom Gannon (being opposed by Bryan Lentz), Gene McGill, George Kenney, Matt Wright, Matt Good, Elinor Taylor, and Art Hershey
Democrats in some danger include John Siptroth, Dante Santoni, Mike Sturla, Shawn Flaherty, Frank Dermody
There's a bunch of open seats, a lot of them opened up by Republicans who defeated incumbents back in May.
But Liebermania is spreading too.
Maryland State Senator John Giannetti switched around a month ago to run as a Republican after losing the Democratic Party nomination.
And another switcher is emerging in Maryland:
After losing the Democratic primary election to James Fitzgerald, incumbent Charles Cave is back in the race for Howard County sheriff, seeking to be re-elected as a write-in candidate.
Cave, 69, who has been Howard's sheriff since 1998, has filed with Howard County elections officials to be a write-in candidate for the Nov. 7 general election. That filing allows his name to appear on sample ballots published by the elections board prior to the election.
But there's more!
In filing to be a write-in candidate, Cave changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, hoping to attract votes from members of all political parties, he said.
Sheriff, That really doesn't make any sense.
Kerry won Howard County by 9 points too. Don't worry too hard about the outcome of the Howard County Sheriff's race.
So, since all politics is local, what's happening in your local races?
Or in other local races that you're following.
