Everyone loves a parade, and we had a great one this morning in Kearney--the UNK Homecoming Parade, where Scott shook at least 80 percent of hands along the parade route. If this election could be won solely on the basis of handshakes, Scott would have it in a walk-away.
Unfortunately, it won't be. The good news is that Scott Kleeb has the national GOP in a dither. The polling must look pretty bad for their boy Smith, because the campaign has heard from numerous sources that an infusion of up to $250K is coming in to the district for negative ads. The Lincoln Journal Star reports:
In the surest sign the 3rd District congressional seat is up for grabs, the National Republican Congressional Committee may be poised to commit resources to the race.
An NRCC spokesman declined Friday to confirm the committee has decided to air TV ads in what had been considered a safe Republican district.
"There is nothing listed on the Federal Election Commission Web site now as expenditures," NRCC spokesman Alex Burgos said by telephone from Washington.
"Until that goes up, I can't confirm anything."
Where is the DCCC? Nowhere to be seen. The Kleeb campaign hasn't received a dime from the DCCC.
They haven't been completely abandoned by the national Dems, as there will be some coattail from the DSCC and DNC efforts for a well-organized GOTV. They're going to need it to counteract the ad onslaught.
Scott Kleeb for Congress.
