A couple of months ago, The Center for American Progress, Clear Channel and Jones Radio Networks announced a contest to find "The Next Progressive Talk Radio Star". This week a national "at-large" contest is selecting one of ten contestants in a contest featuring internet voting. Unfortunately, the folks sponsoring this contest haven't done a very good job publicizing it. This unfortunate development has lead to a predictable result. One contestant has managed to "freep" the results by mobilizing a small sector of the community to stuff the ballot box for reasons having nothing to do with any of the participants' merit.
Full disclosure dictates that I mention that I am a contestant in this contest. However, I'm not asking anybody to go over to this site and vote for me. Instead I would ask you to listen to some of the material and vote for who you think is the best entrant. If the sponsors are looking to find the "Next Progressive Talk Radio Star" then the largest progressive blog in the country should probably have some say in that. You can read about the contest here:

I realize that less than two weeks from a very important national election, there are many important things going on in the world but with no World Series game this evening, this might provide a welcome diversion. As Jack Torrance said in "The Shining", "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". Reccing this thing, too would probably help to change the dynamic of the contest. Thanks and enjoy.
