The poor pathetic pundits over at the Corner are in fullblown pre-election mourning over the seemingly inevitable loss of Senator Man on dog.  I think the loss of Santorum will be the biggest singular election downer the Right Wing could face this election cycle.  Remember, Santorum was seen just a few years ago as embodying the new hyper-aggressive, super-partisan Right Wing Republican who wasn't afraid to be a standard bearer and show all of his Nut Wing Christianist colors even in a moderate state like Pennsylvania.

Just look at Kathryn Jean Lopez wailing and gnashing her teeth at Santorum's upcoming humiliation:

Cardin throwing out Santorum's name like that is only the tiniest hint of the kind of demagogic glee we'll see from the Left if Santorum loses. It will be an ugly post-Election Day if Santorm loses — on so many levels.

You bet your ass it is Kathryn!  "Glee" doesn't even begin to describe it.  No other singular race will give as much pure Schadenfreude as watching Santorum go down in flames on election night.  Not even a Lamont win will taste so sweet.  Consider:

Some of movement conservatism's biggest figures even identified Little Ricky as the Great Christian Right hope for President to follow W himself.  Rick Santorum indeed does embody the very worst of Conservatism.  Just look at the convulsions and histrionics the Cornerites are going into anticipating Ricky's upcoming political demise:

Jonah Goldberg quoting David Brooks:
For there has been at least one constant in Washington over the past 12
years: almost every time a serious piece of antipoverty legislation surfaces in
Congress, Rick Santorum is there playing a leadership role.

Jaw. Drops. On. Floor.

Jonah's advice?  Santorum's campaign should drop this ridiculous twaddle on the Philly burbs.  But don't give poor Jonah to hard a time.  He was trying to out stupid KJR, surely a difficult task:

Kathryn Jean Lopez:

Few in Congress have done more FOR stem-cell research than Rick Santorum. His working with Arlen Specter to support alternatives to embryo-destroying research was a milestone moment — for educating, for seeing the true colors of those who insist on embryonic-stem-cell research and only embyronic-stem-cell research.

Paraphraising Atrios --> "Ouch!  The Stupid!  It BURNS...!!!"

Help the Cornerites out and let them know which Repuglican defeat is going to be the tastiest and take the poll below!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
