Hey, Kossacks in the NYC area: I'm throwing a FREE party next week to celebrate the release of the new
Maxx Klaxon CD,
PARANOID STYLE, and you're invited!
If you like popular culture that's informed by progressive politics -- and you're a fan of classic pop music from any era -- you'll enjoy the tracks from PARANOID STYLE and the other music I'll be spinning at this event. The party's at Lolita, a very unpretentious but cool little bar on the Lower East Side. It's in the earlier part of the evening (7 to 9 pm), so you can still do something else afterwards (or just go home and get a good night's sleep!).
Here's the official e-mail invite:
Emerging Arts presents:
The Maxx Klaxon PARANOID STYLE Listening Party
Calling all Klaxon Youth and fellow travelers: Maxx Klaxon's new EP, PARANOID STYLE, is finally here. The CD features six hot tracks of subversive, politically charged electropop, including Maxx's Iron Maiden cover "Die With Your Boots On" (with remixed samples from George W. Bush's pre-Iraq War State of the Union address).
We're celebrating with a FREE listening party @ Lolita in NYC next Thursday night! Comrade Klaxon himself will spin tracks from the EP, plus electro, synthpop, dancerock, grime, and '80s rarities.
It's a sonic and rhythmic mix that's scientifically formulated to repel up to 87% of government mind control, and defeat music industry psycho-programming! Note: side effects may include euphoria, dizziness, vertigo, excess alcohol consumption, and spontaneous dancing.
We'll have copies of the CD on sale, plus a few free ones to give away. Draft beer and well drinks are only $3 till 8 pm. Don't miss it!

P.S. You don't have to be a fan of "electronica" to enjoy PARANOID STYLE. It's not monotonous club music, but classic electronic pop of the kind that flourished in the early '80s. You can check out samples from every track on the CD on the Maxx Klaxon website or MySpace page. It will be going on sale next week thru CD Baby.
P.P.S. Bonus points to any political history buff who can ID the source of the CD title. :)
