Okay, so the guy is upwards of 70 years old, but the things he says seem a little bizarre by todays standards.
First of, when I asked if he remembered when everyone was accusing everyone else of being "communists", and also mentioned to him that I'm voting preovincial NDP in my first election as a major, he went off on how "The NDP are communists" and justifying this by saying that the FBI used to watch them (to which I rebutted that the FBI were Paranoid bastards back then) Then I tried to tell him that there's already a communist party of canada. He's a little hard of hearing and my dad and him blast the living room set while watching the western channel, so maybe he didn't hear.
His daughters (my mom and aunts)always tell me never to talk politics with him and my grandmother maysherestinpeace
always got a little sick of political talk. Then they start harping on about taxes and how the roads are crap and 'natives'. As if voting in the Conservatives would solve anything
I'm from Manitoba, home of the highest rates of aborigional poverty in the country, so it'd be asy to become jaded and resentful, but I'm determined to stay true to my university leanings (even if I need to become a bit more practical).
