This is a very short diary speculating on the election next week. It occurred to me while I listened to an NPR report on concerns about voter access to the polls and proper recording of the vote that the President's smug attitude toward the election might stem from a tactic we have not seen. What if next Sunday DHS suddenly alerted the nation that Al Qeida would be targeting polling places in the U.S. with suicide bombers? By announcing "credible threats" across the nation could they hope to drive down voter turnout to enable a Republican victory? I know that they might scare their own voters away, but traditionally the conservatives have done better in low turnout elections. It would be a very desperate tactic, but aren't the Republicans in a desperate way? Someone please allay my fears.
